It's changed pretty badly. It'd be roughly around 1 pound a few ago, but nowadays, it'd be around £1.35

The UK doesn't use Euros, it uses pounds and always will, so ignore the idiots telling you about the value of Euros.

EDIT:I can't believe there is someone arguing that the UK uses Euros. Lets get this straight, I live in the UK, I get paid in pounds, I buy things with pounds - if you try giving shop assistants Euros you will get laughed at. I haven't seen a Euro since I was last in Europe. The only places that you might be able to use Euros in the UK are airports, however the pound is still much preferred.
