Hi out t,

Thank you, it was so beautiful when I looked out of the window this morning.
Every branch of every tree was covered in snow, making the trunks stand out dark against the white. Everywhere had a muffled silence about it.

The bonus was, I couldn't get in to lecture and the students had a message over the radio to say stay at home.

I could almost hear their cheers several miles away!

Weather patterns are changing, one day you may have snow in Malta;-)

Best wishes and thanks, Cassandra

Yeah, we love snow, it means we get day of school!!!!! Like today! yay!
Does have disadvantages though- like staying in house all day with nothing to do.

Although it is true that snow in UK makes the place look pretty it also causes a lot of delay and holdups. We do not often get snow like the recent falls, so we are usually quite unprepared for it. The roads are jammed with stuck traffic and the railway network grinds to a halt. Best plan is to stay at home and sit it out until it thaws. During the recent snow fall, about 2000 schools were closed down in England and Wales.

Snow of more than a few inches deep always takes us by surprise and causes chaos. We're just not snow people. The best organised are the Canadians and Russians who expect snow and know how to deal with it. I bet the Canadian railways do not grind to a halt because of snow, as they do here in UK.

By the way, you're not living in Malta, you are living in
MALTA GC. Always remember that. The people of the Island of Malta hold the George Cross for their bravery in World War II. God Save the King.

carmel_andrews
yes, it even snowed in central london, and the nearer you got to the city (square mile) the streets were a lot clearer, islington was a bit sluggish and no-one bothered to grit the pavements

It took me 1hr and 20mins to do a 15min drive this morning Then had to leave car at garage and get 2 buses home with my 2yr old who cried the whole way And the day isn't over yet Got to get the buses back IN THE RUSH HOUR to get the car Oh yes SNOW.
