you can get a car at any age. Just that you can't drive it till you are old enough. :P

In UK, the driving age for a car or van is 17 (unless in receipt of a full disability allowance, when you can obtain a provisional licence at the age of 16 years), while a moped or restricted-power motorcycle can be ridden at 16.

when you have learnt to spell or at least used the spell checker

You can get a car when you want. The only snag is you have to be 17 to take your test to drive legally. Please drive sensibly, get proper insurance etc.. Thrashing around might seem like fun at the time but if you were to kill someone with your driving it will haunt you for the rest of your life. Wait until you are 17 and do it properly.

super_star
18

jellypigs2003
you can get one whenever you want, but you can start learning to drive when you are 17. Usually best to get your provisional a few weeks before your 17th birthday so you can start straight away when your birthday comes.

Of course, you could get a car when you're 16 and drive on private land but er..

it would help if you could string a sentence together first.

mu_sa_kossan
You must be able to spell first!!!

Mrs.Doyle
You can get a car whenever you like. You just have to be 17 and insured to drive it. (UK) And have a valid licence of course. You need a qualified driver in the car with you too until you pass your test. You can't go solo.

truble
i think 18 but i got mine when i was 16

Digger
You need to be 17 to apply for your provisional driving licence in the UK (you get a form for this from the post office). Once you have your provisional licence you can take lessons with an instructor OR with someone who has had a full clean licence for 3 years and is over 21. Once you pass your test you can have your own car!
All the best.

dukalink6000
18 to drive it by yourself, same age to purchase one

To buy a car I think you have to be 18 unless your parents co sign. To start driving it depends on the state you live in. In Illinois you get your permit at 15 and your license at 16.

break
you can be any age to own a car..... you can't drive one until you are 17 and hold a licence

That all depends on if you are mature enough to drive, if you have a job and can handle all the responsibilities that come with a car

in the UK you can get one from birth... but you just cant drive it until you apply for a provisional license on your 17th birthday, by the time you get it, you will be about 17 and 2 weeks old.
