I'm planning to buy myself a diamond at Tiffany's for my 40th. Having just spent a week in New York, I am resolute - what a fabulous city! Highly recommended.

I had my 40th last summer I was lucky and had a venue to ourselves and hired in caterers . My guest list was great fun to put together I invited 20 people that had been important in my life i.e old boss old school pal who I had fallen out with a long time ago etc but no family, then the next day had a picnic party in the park for family it was fantastic. Whatever you do enjoy it, and life as a 40 year old!!!

Take your hubby to Amsterdam for a week and have loads and loads of s** with or without someone else there, male/female. It is your "naughty forties" afterall. Enjoy whatever you decide

Don't bother, it's not that great.

Vegas for 3 nights, then New York for 4 nights. If you combine these two you will be suprised at how cheap you can get a holiday (bearing in mind were your going)

I wouldnt suggest Paris. I have just been there for the new year with my girlfriend for New Year. Whilst its a beautiful city, with some great restaraunts and nice sights to see, its not even in the same league as New York. Theres nowere near as much to do/see. The good thing is, its only 1 hour away on a plane (from manchester) But its not cheap there!

I think if you go to new york first, then vegas after, you may get it cheaper, not sure why but this is usually the case.

Otherwise if you dont fancy a holiday, you can treat yourself to a nice piece of jewelery, a watch or something maybe? This you will be able to keep, and treasure forever, but if you go for a special holiday you will no doubt have some great memories that will be with you forever too.

I'm 40 this year, and I'm taking a holiday to St Lucia with my other half for a relaxing time (and to escape all the relatives who want to celebrate it with me!).

Have a look at Barcelona it's a fantastic city , it's got the lot restaurants shop's history , if you go make sure you visit the cathedral and the dancing fountains not forgetting Las Ramblas .

I got divorced for my 40th and then went to Barbados with my 3 children. Best holiday of my life.it didn't break the bank either. But if it is just you and your husband, then a trip to either Paris Barcelona with your husband then a trip to New York with the girls!!. And remember Life begins at 40!!!! I want to go to Vegas for my 50th
