You've got three days.
Spend a day in Glasgow, you won't see everything you want too though. On the second day why not travel through to Edinburgh its only aboout an hour away again you won't see every thing you want to see and maybe on the third day you could go to stirling that has got a few things of interest.
although its a small place 3 days is not enough time to see everything you want.
Glasgow is always refered to as the second city of the empire(when the UK had and empire)
ignore the trolls who know nothing about glasgow it has everything and even if you spend 3 days in glasgow you will still not have seen everthing.
Kelvingrove art galleries is at least half a day and you just cross the road to see the kelvinhall sports arena and the transport museum that will be a day and these attactions are all free(donations welcome)
also if your into museums we've also got The burrel collection at pollock(entry fee) and the people palace(free but donations welcome)) at Glasgow green. Maybe you could go up to the high street and visit Provands Lordship house, the oldest house in glasgow(circa 1500) and Glasgow Cathedral(again free but donations welcome)
Shopping; people who know say its the best shopping place outside london, I disagree, its better, and a lot cheaper. If your going to be here on a weekend visit the barras you can get everything there both legal and illegal items.
They don't call glasgow dear green place for nothing there is plenty of green space.
Maybe you could stick around the west end after you have been to Kelvingrove you could visit the University(free etc, etc) it has a museum type of thing there too (entry fee)though i live quite close to it i've never been to it so I can't give you any info on it.
pub, clubs and nightlife there is just too much of it for me to go into detail.
And if you are a Football fan I'm sure you won't want to miss out on the 4 modern football stadia Glasgow has but if you aint got time I suggest just visiting Hampden park(entry fee).
someone above mentioned Loch Lomond, it is worth a visit.
I could go on forever aboot Glasgow attractions but I need to go to the loo now.........
Edit--Read - 3 modern stadia and Firhill.......

Never before have I heard just cr@p in all my life. So many people here are jealous of Glasgow for being a world-class city.

From its traditional pubs to chic nightclubs, Glasgow is a city oozing with style. But there’s no escaping the friendliness of the locals. And no wonder – this is a city to be proud of. Scotland’s capital of cool has world-class live music to tune in to, stunning architecture to admire, the most-visited museums and galleries outside London to visit and a fantastic selection of restaurants with cuisines from around the world. If that’s not enough, there’s enough shopping, fashion and legendary football to squeeze into any visit to guarantee there will never be a dull moment.

Glasgow has hundreds of great attracting within the city but just a 40 minute drive north west is Loch Lomdon, arguable the most stunning place in Scotland.

Ignore the suggestions to visit Nedinburgh, the city with the highest amount of junckies in Europe and ignore England too, they are all just bitter there.

I would maybe do the science centre, then head over to the west end, to the kelvingrove art gallery and museum, then the transport museum and if u have time in same day, the museums, art galleries and charles rennie mackintosh house at the university of glasgow. And the uni looks nice for pix too.
The next day I'd head out of glasgow, up to loch lomond and the trossachs, etc.
Then, the next day go to Edinburgh, go to the zoo and the royal museum of scotland, the castle etc.

there u go, sorted.

hope the weather's nice for u.

I don't know why everyones going on about gangs and stabbings, there are gangs and stabbings EVERYWHERE!!! Scotland's a great place and no matter what people are saying and theres loads to do wither ur cultured or not. The time capsual in coatbridge is good, the SECC has the science centre, Edinburgh Castle, Kelvingrove art gallery and musem, The transport museum is really intresting, Ayr is good on a nice day, Glasgow city centre for shopping is good ( always sales on!!!), the nightlife is amazing;a dancing for everyone, M&Ds the theme park has the X7 bus which takes you right there and back AND gets u discount!!

hope ive helped xxxx

There's some good suggestions and Glasgow is interesting, but a drive out of the city will be an idea - up to Fort William in the Highlands for a day , would be worth a peek.

To save on time stay at the place you go to. For accommodation in Glasgow with parking try this link for discounted deals : http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/United-Kingdom/Glasgow/

There are numerous alternatives outside Glasgow, but try this if you decide to go into the Highlands : http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/United-Kingdom/Fort-William/ for better amenities, but if you want something B & B style you may need to do a web search.

Driving times to Fort William for example around 2 hours [ using the route planner with hotels on he above site's "map feature / route planner ]

Depends what you want to do!
Burrell collection or Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow itself
The Falkirk Wheel
Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town

etc etc

Where are you travelling from? There is more gangs in Glasgow than in new york? Glasgow City Centre is the main shopping areas and the surrounding areas are housing estates, There is a lot of racial problems in Glasgow, I stay just outside Glasgow and I haven't been in the city centre for years as there is no reason to go as art gallery's don't interest me. Glasgow is no different from Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and I wouldn't choose any of them for a holiday. Last weekend there was 29 stabbings in the Glasgow area.

try a glasgow council estate, nice place to visit if u want to be stabbed to death.

Glad to hear you've hired a car. Head South to sunny England. Much nicer than Glasgow.

micah
edinburgh castle, maybe stirling if you cant make it to edinburgh. I live in Glasgow and to be completely honest there is not much there tourist wise to see, apart from maybe Rangers and Celtics stadiums! head over to edinburgh on the train, which is incredibly easy, for a more cultural experience...
