There shouldn't be a problem but stick to Mastercard and Visa. Amex is accepted but not at every store or hotel. And remember - don't let the card out of your sight when you pay. Most UK retailers now require you to enter PIN details manually when you make a purchase - I'm not sure this applies to overseas credit cards so check with your bank. And don't bother tipping. |

It wont be in dollars whjen you pay for things here. You're company will convert it automatically at the appropriate exchange rate, assuming your card is one of the major ones accepted worldwide. |

No - you can use your card anywhere but be careful as you'll probably get charged a handling fee and exchange rate for every purchase you make. Best either buy some travellers cheques or get an Amex pre-paid card before you arrive.

There won't be any problems, as your credit card company will use the then current exchange rate to bill you. If you want to avoid any hassles with using your card though, call your credit card company and tell them that you will be going to London. This way they don't get a red flag that your card may be stolen. |

There shouldn't be a problem so long as your card is a visa, master card, or amex. Discover isn't recognized outside the US. It's actually better to use your card than to carry cash and you'll usually get the best possible exchange rate when the card converts the prices from pounds to dollars. Also, make sure your card is signed - "see identification" not acceptable there in some instances. |

when we Brits travel abroad and buy things, the purchase is registered in the currency of the country we're in, and I don't see why this should work any different for you. When you get home your own bank will translate the price in sterling to a price in dollars, using the prevailing exchange rate and adding on any fee. |

No. But you will get charged if you withdraw cash on it from an ATM (at least I do when I travel to the states with my British credit card).
Paying for stuff should be no problem, although we use Chip and Pin here - it would really help you to know your PIN.
Also, AMEX is not widely accepted in the UK, better to have a VISA or Mastercard. |

There shouldn't be as long as you shop at places that accept your credit card. In Europe places typically accept Visa and MC. Call your credit card company to let them know you are traveling to London and what dates you will be there. It's a good idea to do this in case the company watches for suspicious activity. I did this with my ATM card too before I traveled to Europe. Also, many credit cards are now charging a surcharge for foreign exchange. Although you get a good rate of exchange be sure ask your credit card company what this surcharge will be. |

No, I live in Spain and have used my Spanish credit cards in a lot of different countries. The major cards such as visa and mastercard are accepted almost anywhere in the world. You can always check with your bank if you're not sure. Hope you have a nice time in Londonxx |

No problem. The credit card company will convert your spending into dollars when they send you your bill. |

Be careful, some credit card companies charge "conversion fees" when you use their card in a foreign country that doesn't use dollars. |

There shouldn't be if it's a visa - ur cash is automatically converted into pounds. I don't know about banks over there, but here in the UK you need to let your bank know where and when you're going (because of fraud prevention), so if you're still unsure, give them a call! Enjoy your stay in London - it's a fantastic city! |

no there shouldnt, but remember that it takes almost $2 to make a Pound. And different places have different rate exchanges. I would rather take cash and exchange it at a bank. Dont make the mistake I did and do it at the airport, they rip you!! |

We accept dollar credit cards no problem, easier if they have visa or mastercard on them though |

Hey........Hope you have a fun time in the UK. Your credit card will be fine, but remember that right now the exchange rate is almost 2 to 1...so whatever you have available on that card you can roughly half it to work out how many pounds you will have. It takes $2 to buy just ONE £.....not a real good time for visiting!! |

No problem my dear.

You can use an international credit card anywhere......but you should notify your bank before you go as they sometimes redflag the card as stolen if you don't usually travel |

No, you are going to spend, not hard earned dollars or euros or rubles or kwatcha, but rather electronically encoded blips. The blips have different names in different countries, but they remain yours, no matter where you use them. |

Dont worry the credit cards companies know the exchange rate. Thats their job! |

Are you serious??
Credit cards can be used in any country, and the currency does not matter as your credit card company will convert the money you spend in the uk from pounds into dollars.
As long as the card you are using is chip and pin compatable you won't have any problems. |

usually the currency will convert to american dollars on cc statement but not all cc can be used overseas. call your cc company to confirm and to inform them you will be traveling. Don't want cc theft to happen. |
