If going on a long trip, pack a small bag for each child without them knowing, then when they get bored you can produce games, toys and small snacks. We used to play car bingo (ie score off red car, bike etc), score out the motorway junctions on a list and also had I-spy books (?still in production).
Also, we made scrapbooks of our trips and kept diaries of our activities. |

Keep them busy and try to wear them out ie rounders or similar. Swimming, building sandcastles etc or enrol them in kids club (not everyday). Enjoy being a kid with the kids. |

Enjoy it, think about them more than yourself, spend your time doing want they would like to do======== but at the end of the day take a bit of relaxation for yourself, ie use babysitting services or kids clubs. You will reap the benefits of having happy relaxed kids later.
really hope you enjoy your holiday. |

prepare for it. Leave all your worries and nagging back home. Don't let it become stressful by constantly worrying if the children step out of line a little, they are on holiday , you are on holiday, enjoy it to the full. Don't become stressed if other people look disapproving at your children when they spill a drink, make a noise or throw a wobbler. You don't want to spoil other peoples holidays but if you worry too much about what others think you will spoil yours. Let the children run off their energy with lots of games and fresh air,or swimming, so in the evening they happily drift off to sleep. You can then put your feet up and plan the next day. Your holiday will fly by, have a lovely time enjoy every minute,REMEMBER RELAX YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY, DONT ALLOW STRESS TO CREEP IN. good luck. |

If you're flying check with the airline to see what you can take on board. If you're driving make sure your kids have plenty to drink and eat and something to play with that's quiet. If you're kids are young and need naps try to travel early in the day so that they can have the sleep they need. Don't expect it to be easy, traveling with children is often not. Keep a sense of humor and make sure you don't show your stress to them. |

Buy a really cheap portable DVD player. If you have a long car journey, this will silence the children for a fair proportion of it. I am writing this from France after a fairly sane journey down with two five-year-olds.
I don't know whether they are allowed on planes now.... |

leave the kids at home.
if you do decide to take them remember kids don't always like doing the things their parents liked to do as children. try and talk to them about what they would like to do. |
