I am going to New York City for 2 & a half weeks(visiting from london), I want 2 know what essentials i need?

Mucho dinero, and a good map of New York/Newark - why not have a wee day out in either Philadelphia, Washington or Boston - the Amtrak trains are swift. Needless to say a secure bag/rucksack is needed also.
As you'll in Summer, light clothing is the thing, for you're talking about 30-40 degrees celsius which would be the temp.

Well honey,
if you're gonna hit New York, the main essentials that you should take are the following:

1-Atleast one pair of dark sunglasses. (Not only are they in with the celebs now, but you feel more confident in them when in a new place)
2-Verification of I.D. (You never know when you might need to prove who you actually are.)
3-Two different handbags. (New York is the place of the stars, and if you're seen with the same handbag, well, lets not even go there.)
4- 99p tub of Vaseline. (Vaseline protects you're lips agains the sun, and the wind and the cold. It prevents chaped, sore lips as well as being long lasting, and shiny.)
5- You're camera. (If you see Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt waltzing down the street, you HAVE to capture him. Failing that, just a photo.)
6- Money. (The worst thing in the world, when being in one of the best shopping places on earth is to forget you're money.)
7- A penguin. (No particular reason, they are just so darn cute.)
8- Me. (I wanna come.) =D

#1 thing comfortable shoes (at least 2 pair). It's such a great city for walking and such a great time (weather-wise). Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, comfortable clothes, an umbrella, light layers, shorts, a map. (all things you can get there, so don't worry). Not sure if you're male or female, but bring 6-8 bottoms and 8-10 tops and do laundry at a laundromat halfway through your trip and you should be good. It is a great (huge) city. Explore and enjoy!

CHOCOLATE! :D:D:D Erummm And Extra Clothes And Erumm The Things That Go Under The Clothes, Stuff To Basically Keep You Entertained. Think About What You Would Normally Use In A 2 And A Half Week Routine, And Don't Forget The Toothbrush!! :D

Just bring a large empty suitcase and buy everything while you are there - the dollar is so weak against the pound that you can buy anything you want. Try to find the large outlet stores just outside the city selling top brands for next to nothing.

Lots of money. It's considerably warm here. Maybe an umbrella because it might rain? Oh, and comfy shoes because it's a lot of walking.

Next time I go, i'm gonna take some trousers with an extra couple of inches on the waist line.... They eat like its going out of fashion in NY... You'll have a great time.

If you take a laptop or any kind electrical device from over there, check to see if you might need an adapter. 2.5 weeks can be a while. And, try to find the best detailed map of the area you are staying in. Just to know what you can get to in a (VERY) short notice. And if I may add a 3rd item(s) - a small notepad & at least 2 to 3 pens or pencils for taking quick notes to refrence them later. The 2 to 3 pens are just for back-up. Travel with small bills and place them on different parts of you - you know, different pockets. I hope that helps - have a GREAT Time ! !
