If you like history, consider Wiltshire. Nice scenery, too...

And the west-country is quite charming.

The Yorkshire Dales. Unspoilt, peaceful and friendly. Links aren`t working at the moment but google `pictures of the yorkshire dales` and have a look.

Minehead, Somerset. It is next to Exmoor national park, next to the sea, lovely cafes and pubs. Plenty to do in the surrounding area.

There are many great places to visit in England, the Cotswolds, Norfolk Broads, Cornwall is very pretty, It really depends what you would like to do.

The lake district is nice, and so are many places up north.

For peace and quiet try the Yorkshire Dales or one of the small coastal villages along the coastline in that part of the country.

'Er indoors!!
Cornwall this time of the year is gorgeous, as it is quiet, and easy to get around. I have posted a link on Polperro, and Lansallos beach (always deserted) I walk my dog on this beach every day, and hardly ever see anyone and it's extremely beautiful.
