i would rather get a cab door 2 door than wait with luggage at a bus stop being eyed by potential muggers/pick pockets and travel in safety knowing that i don't have to change and drag cases up and down escalators - oh and i'm guaranteed a seat for the duration of the journey

Yes and taxi fares are about to rise again; quite a part from the high salaries that owner taxi drivers seem to deem necessary, the cost of the actual cabs is very high and fuel prices have been rising steadily.

mainwoolly
I suppose they are quite roomy.

Lincoln6
And Big Oil has excuses why prices are going even higher.

leicester_north_station
The fare you pay is the taxi drivers wage earnings living in London is expensive and the taxi driver needs to make a living.

A couple of years ago I got a taxi from one side of London to the other for £11. Not bad IMHO. About as much of a rip off as the tube but less entertaining and a bit safer.

Maybe they went up recently.

But at least you can watch tv in the back! Cabbie Vision FTW!

I've lived in London for 6 years and have never got a taxi, they charge ridiculous amounts and are just traps for tourists

cab rides are made to be expensive because they want to get a car and there dollar is different than ours it may be worth it i don't know

Did you expect London to be cheap.

10 minute taxi ride in birmingham = £8 = bargain.
