I'd make day trips around the country.
Maybe http://www.visitbritain.com/ can give you some ideas for day trips or overnights stays in the UK. Also take a look at http://www.visitsussex.org/ for ideas in your surrounding area. |

Get a roadmap of the UK, pick a page number at random and stick a pin in the map and look for any places of intrest marked on that map, note them down and look it up on the internet.
Do that a couple of times because unless your going to stay in a motel or guest house over night, going somewhere every day will be hard on who ever does the driving. |

before we had kids we used to get in the car and drive - stay at a travel Inn or Holiday Inn and see what was around. if we liked the place we stayed another night, if not, we moved on! we live in essex but i would recommend heading to dorset or devon, you dont need to book anywhere in advance but if you do make sure its somewhere you can cancel on the day if you decide not to stay - have a good time |

Go to the Lake District, in my opinion the most beautiful part of England. Once you are there, you can go on some lovely tranquil walks among the hills and lakes. At night, retire to the pub and drink several pints of real ale. Head for Ambleside, Keswick, Kendal or Windermere where there is plenty of B&B accommodation. Kendal is possibly the worst option, although it is a nice little town, because it is a few miles away from the Lake District proper. |

Hi,
Mystery trip.
Drive to your nearest train station, get on the first train out and pay the conductor on board.
Or do the same with the bus company, buy a pass and explore the county, you see a lot more on a bus than driving..
National Express, off on a coach trip.
If you don't want to travel build something in the garden, or fill it full or ornaments.
Buy a cheap 12 x 8 green house and a blow up pool to go inside it. Then laze in the pool till you wrinkle.
It does not matter what you do, at the end of the week just be happy to still be here and to not have been amongst the thousands that have died over that week.
