The +44 is if you are trying to ring from a different country. Since you live in the UK, all you have to do is ring this number:

Let me explain:
A phone number is made up of three parts, the country code, the area code and the string of numbers that is specific to one person. However, if you replace the country code with a 0 (in some countries such as the US you dial 1 instead) then dial an area code that starts with anything from 1 to 9 (usually 1, 2, 5, 8 or 9), the phone system knows you are trying to ring within your own country. However, if you put a + sign (which you get by pressing the * key twice on a mobile phone or modern home phone) or 00 (or 01 in some countries) first, then the phone system will know that the next two numbers you dial will be the country code, followed by the area code and the rest of the number. |
