When I am fortunate enough to have a day to myself in London especially in the week then I seize the moment.... so much to do and so little time.

I usually start by taking a coffee and pastry early in the morning at a Soho coffee shop.... cafe Italia, off of Old Compton Street in Soho. It's amazing watching this city come to life. People off to work.... people going home from the night before... it's amazing just to people watch. Sitting outside in the cool air usually under a heater is a great way to start one's day.

I then take in a bit of culture.... it makes me feel better and appreciate this great city of ours. I'd go to the British Museum to see the Terracotta Warriors from China or even the Tate Britain in Pimlico to see the Turner Prize! Slowly taking in the Art and the people and the whole ambience of London life.

I'd then head off for a bit of lunch.... so many places and sometimes it's good to ask for: "A table for one please".... sounds sad but when I get time on my own, which is very rare, it's a real treat. I usually head to a noodle bar or even a Mezze place where I can eat a little and enjoy whatever I want.

Later I take in some shopping avoiding Oxford Street like a plague heading to the Kings Road, or Covent Garden. Going to music shops, art shops and book stores looking for a antique book that I just buy because it makes me feel good. I also buy something for my partner just because I feel guilty about the amount of treats I have taken. Buying things that I don't need and not worrying about how much they cost. Thinking this is me time and I deserve it.

I then meet friends early evening for a glass of something and a chat.... then take in some theatre, comedy, or just sit and drink and chat away until I get hungry and eat something great in a good restaurant like Berterolli's in Covent Garden or even something cheap but tasty like a pasta joint.

Eventually, heading home and thinking I must do this more often... if only I didn't have to work tomorrow!

Remember, enjoy this city of ours and you're a longtime dead!

There is not much to do in London. Stay in bed till late and go for a walk. It will rain all day anyway and things are too expensive.
I live here, I should know!
