Have you been to Eureka!, the kids' museum in Halifax? It's a good day out for the kids (and adults), not too far from Leeds and not very expensive either.

how about Lotherton Hall ,and its over your side of leeds and its got a great bird gardens so the kids can chase the peacocks about

NO I would say come down to Cornwall but that's far to travel for a day, try something new, how about a day learning football skills or any kind of sport, which they might be interested in, it's difficult when there is such a big age gap to cater for.

If it's a lovely spring day, go for a walk you never been on, or cycle trail, then have a picnic lunch. Best I can do as I don't know Leeds, apart from knowing the football team isn't doing very well.
