It's more to do with the way you look at the world and life and less to do with whether there are really good things about this country. If you look at things from a more positive angle, then you'll see that this country is full of good things. The country, as always, has both good things and bad things. Don't fall into the trap that all bad things come from outside. It's our country so it's up to us to make it as good or as bad as we want it to be. |

I am a german and live in the UK since 3 years.
I like the UK because it is easy to find a job here, you can get one very quick. Also, the british people are very friendly and easy going (I am not used to that from the germans, lol)
I think its a great place to live and work. I prefer it to my home country & my parents are just one short flight with easyjet away.
Of course this all depends on your point of view, from which country are you? |

If you are English, you should be ashamed of yourself for even asking the question. If you are foreign, then go home. |

You don't mention your nationality. If you were born British, or you have been brought up in the UK since being a nipper, then you probably wouldn't need to ask the question!
If however you still feel un-British, then you should consider moving to a country where you pay for health care, where there is no freedom of speech, where there is no religious freedom, where the opportunity to succeed is not up to you, where abject poverty is still prevalent, and where they don't recognise beef and Yorkshire pudding as a delicacy!! |

You need to work on your sense of perspective.
Go to Sudan, Saudi Arabia, or Kenya for a week. Or try a nice holiday in Iran or North Korea.
There are a million places you could go that would leave you begging to come back to the U.K. within two minutes. |

We have the highest currency.
Our police are better than other countries.
We have equal rights for men and women.
We dont have barbaric laws.
If you dont like it here, you could always go to live in Afgahnistan. |

You need some perspective.
Go and live in iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan and any one of a large number of developing nations in Africa and Asia oh and a few highly corrupt south American countires or how about south Asia again in monsoon season or the caribbean in hurricane season or Russia in winter and I think you will be well aware of what is good about the UK. |

fiona
 |
So where would you prefer?
Kenya - where if you vote the wrong way, you get shot?
Pakistan - where if you attend a public meeting you could get blown up
The West indies - where hurricane wreak untold damage each year
Saudia Arabia - where those of the "wrong religion" are beheaded, or those who drink alcohol are lashed until blood flows freely to the ground
Japan - where earthquakes are a common occurance
and I could go on, and on.
The UK is not so bad, but if you do not like it - why b****y well stay? |
