You should head for Tarbot in Kintryre a little fishing village out of the way with loads of Islands to visit. Great scenery and no pollution. |

It's miles better than it used to be. BUT until they get rid of the paper coffee cups at the Kelvingrove museum...............!
Glasgow used to be seriously grim but you can spend a great weekend there.
The problem for Glasgow is that Edinburgh is FANTASTIC! |

The Smiles Better campaign is years out of date, but Glasgow is a pretty friendly city & it's got a great nightlife. |

I used to live in Edinburgh and its a lovely spiritual city. Lots of tourists and no superclubs with good djs. Its a bit boring in a way. I moved back to Inverness cos I was bored there. Glasgow on the other hand is meant to be much more exciting with less tourists(but a lot of polish living there). People fro Edinburgh go to Glasgow for shopping as theres not much in Ed for the capital. They dont even have a Primark!! Theres lots of good clubs in Glasgow and they people are meant to be friendlier. Edinburgh is a bit hoity toity(?). Glasgow has been described as an industrial city as its all built up and a lot of industry. That probably means the people are a bit more working class and if thats what you are then you'll love it! PS Watch out as Glasgow has the highest rate for stabbings in Britain but Edinburgh is the AIDS capital of Europe! |

Yes Glasgow is absolutely 100% smiles better! Having lived in both Galsgow and Edinburgh i can say that I can't think of 1 single way that Edinburgh is better than Glasgow.
Glasgow is bigger, better for shopping, better clubs and pubs, better transport, nicer to look at, the people are much friendlier and don't think they are better than you like the majority of people I have had to deal with in Edinburgh.
There are lots of other nice places in Scotland too though, I just like Glasgow the best. |

Better for what?
The slogan was intended, almost certainly, to invite comparasions with Edinburgh.
But although Glaswegans are probably friendlier, and there`s certainly some stunning architecture in Glasgow, it would be deny that in most respects Edinburgh is far nicer, more beautiful, more civilised and safer. |

Glasgow is a great place, with lovely architecture, brilliant shopping, and friendly people. Edinburgh is also nice, but a lot more touristy and expensive, and the people are a wee bit more snooty. However, I find both way too loud, and the price of a pint is crippling! Up north in Scotland is a truly beautiful place, especially around the lochs. The scenery is breath taking and it's so quiet and peaceful. |

Yes, Glasgow is really smiles (and miles) better! There is so much to see and do. Loads of great parks, museum, shops, pubs and clubs. Not forgetting the Barras and Paddys markets too. People are also very friendly and welcoming. I just love Glasgow! |
