I wouldn't say us Brits consider ourselves 'above' anyone. Maybe Americans shouldn't take themselves so seriously and stop being so brash. Scotland and the border regions are very nice, but theres not a great deal to do. |

You are all nuts, we dont care about individuals, its the governments who piss us off, of course you are welcome, what do you expect a protest when you arrive, I met an iraqi the other day and heavens above I didn't throttle him, I believe you have this fear because you know how you treat outsiders in your own country, we don't in England, allthough we occassionallg give each other a kicking! |

Sure you'll be welcome (your name isn't Bush is it?!)
Visit London, York, Chester, Stratford-on-Avon, Edinburgh for historic cities. For seaside resorts visit Brighton, Scarborough, Whitby. For countryside visit Yorkshire, the Cotswolds, North Wales, Highlands of Scotland.
I have an American friend visiting this summer and she recommends the following book - "England for Dummies" by Donald Olson (Frommers). Note, however, that this refers only to England which is not the same as the UK. The UK or Britain consists of Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
Hope you enjoy yourself. |

Cornwall or Devon for the best beaches in England surrounded by countryside...
Bath is a stunning city.
(good area as well - near Bristol, stone henge, cheddar gorge etc)
Of course london ... every 'tourist' has to see it.
Lake district if you are into that....
Ohh pleaaaase let me come and stay??!?! |

There are some rude, ignorant Brits just as there are some rude, ignorant Americans. Most people would welcome you - most Brits think Americans are pretty cool! One of my best friends is from Austin and she has a great, self-deprecating sense of humour and we forever tease each other about who's correct in terms of language and spelling (always me, obviously)!
Since you're from a relatively "new" country, I would go see some really old historical sights - there are some amazing castles and heritage sights. You aren't going to find better shopping or nightlife than you have back home, so go and see the things you can't see in the USA. Have a good trip. |

Anyone's welcome in the UK, so long as you learn to take the piss, they'll like you.
If you're easily offended, stay home :) |

Contrary to the perception that Britons are "reserved", people are very friendly and welcoming - and direct! They just don't poke their noses in unless they think their interest is valued. (Most Britons are very extroverted and gregarious once you get to know them.)
Where to go and what to see depends on your interests. If you love history and art and architecture, visit Chester, Bath, Tewkesbury, Winchester, the Isle of Wight...
London, of course, is easy to get too, and wonderful, and very cosmopolitan nowadays - but it's crowded and expensive. If you get away from London, there is a lot to see just about anywhere. Britrail passes - for train travel - provide an affordable way to travel.
For gorgeous scenery, most of northern and western Scotland, the Lake District, North Wales, the Isle of Wight,
the Cotswolds, Cornwall, the Yorkshire dales, Scilly Isles
Local pubs are good places to talk to the locals and find out about interesting places that are often ignored by the people who write the guidebooks. They also usually have good food at affordable prices and sometimes accommodation, too.
I would suggest you check the official Great Britain tourist website.
Wherever you go, I don't think you will be disappointed. |

I'm sure you'll be welcome. Look thru the official visit Britain site below and take your pick. You must visit the Lake District and Covent Garden |

You'll do fine in the UK. I personally recommend Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Highlands- the Isle of Skye is beautiful). The Scots are historically reknowned for their hospitality...just don't call their "lochs" "lakes." And if you're into backpacking, I noticed that the Scots have absolutely no qualms about picking you up- even when you don't ask for a ride. |

My Boyfriend is a citizen of the UK and he is cool with everyone. The english people are known for their hospitality and good nature. Just be respectful of their culture and enjoy it, its one of the most facinating countrys on earth, plus you don't have to know another languager! |

Just don't bignote yourself around like my daughter's father (from DC) does. He makes out that nothing is good enough for him - too small, too expensive, etc etc - and everyone who hears him yelling the odds thinks he's a d*ckhead, which he is(!) Most English people are friendly to Americans individually, it's just your vile government we don't like (or ours).
As for Scotland, went there once and it was closed. Don't bother unless you like cold, rain, fog and bleak moors. |

Of course you will be welcome. Unless you are a rabid mad killer, in which case stay home, he he.
It depends how long you are staying for and what you want to see.
Personally My advice would be get a rail UK pass, it will cost you a couple of $100 but will give you free access to the UK Rail Network, you can then make trips to many many areas within the UK.
I would definatley try to visit London (3 days minimum to see lots), York, Canterbury, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinbourgh, Portsmouth, Bath and Brighton if you can, from all those locations you can see a lot of diverse History about the UK and the inhabitants, if you are able to get a hire car then especially take a trip around the Countrysides of the various counties and areas, each has a distinctive feel and for a small nation the things to see are crammed pack!
We have just had visitors from California over for a 4 week stay and each day they where given somewhere different to visist within 100miles of us here in the Heart of Sussex when they was not visiting up North. Visitors are quite often very surprised by the variation and things to see and do. |

Yeh, come on over! You'll be welcome. We have become a multi-raced society in recent years. I suggest you base yourself in London, and Glasgow or Edinburgh. On the down-side; we have a high number of rude, disrespectful modern youngsters, but don't let it stop you..... |

Come to Aberdeen Scotland friend. Thanks to the Oil connection we have hundreds of Houstonians living here, and have done since the early 70's. Some of us think of texas as part of Aberdeenshire. I've been there twice myself and a lot of my friends now live there.
We also have the best countryside and scenery you will find anywhere. We are europe's OIl capitol and all our buildings are granite, not the ugly red-brick you find everywhere else in th UK. |
