I,ve been told there are no speed cameras on uk motorways ,is this true?

They are definitely used in roadworks on the motorways, and I have seen speed cameras on bridges overlooking the M4 and M5.

there are no fixed ones but there are motorway patrols and cameras on the bridges

hmm ur dreaming there are average speed calculating speed cameras take care they are worse on the M6 i dont know about M40,

don't you believe it. They have cameras on the overhead gantries and if they are short of a few pounds they will switch the matrix signs to silly limits for spurious reasons to milk the road users.

I know a guy who fitted fixed speed cameras on the M42, unfortunately for him he was late for an appointment one day and forgot --- a few days later the fine arrived and points on his licence.

Wouldn't know firsthand, never having driven in the UK. (I'm an American and have never even driven in Canada or Mexico.) I would advise you to keep to the speed limits in any case.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but speed cameras are alive on well on Britiain's motorways, although there is a scintilla of truth in what you were told because until recently the Police and Speed Camera partnerships shied away from motorways for fear of basically catching tens of thousands of motorists and provoking a massive public outcry, even bigger than there is already.

You will find cameras across the motorway network at roadworks sites and also on the M25 as part of the variable limits that are used as part of the traffic manangement system on a large western stretch around Heathrow. There are also permanent installatins and "talivans" used on stretches of the M4 in Wiltshire.

Makes me sick.

Pretty sure there are no fixed ones but then there should not be any anyway motorways are the safest roads in the country with the least accidents its built up areas like in towns where all the speed cameras are.

as far as i know we only have cameras at roadworks on motorways but we do have unmarked police cars
