Miss Terious

I want to go away for a romantic weekend within the UK - what places would you suggest?

(Safe) website links welcome.

My spending limit is £500 and would like to stay two nights.

I am going to have to agree with most people and say the Lake District. It is one of the most beautiful places in the whole of the UK. I will give you other options which I think are lovely places. Edinburgh - very nice and lots to do, York - very historic, haunted beautiful city with lots to do and see, lots of restaurants and shops. £500 would probably cover it in any of these places. Also the Yorkshire Dales are very beautiful search thewensleydaleheifer.com on google. My boyfriend and I are staying there at christmas. Its in the heart of the dales and is a themed hotel (not tacky though) and also has a very good restuarant which is in the good food guide and has won loads of awards. Have fun!

We went to "The Lobster Pot" in Mousehole for our 25th Wedding anniversary and it was lovely.
They knew about our celebration and gave us a little room which jutted out over the harbour.
It is a very, very old and small pub - don't expect rooms like the Hilton or the Ritz - they are small with low ceilings.
The food was wonderful - I had lobster thermidore first night there, as befits the name of the hotel/pub
Easy access to Penzance and perhaps a trip across to the Isles of Scilly. Or maybe visit St. Ives and the artists.

'Er indoors!!
I look after a gorgeous holiday let with an open fire, in a gorgeous "oldy worldy" Cornish village.

It's especially romantic this time of the year with the smell of chimney smoke, and the mist rising off the sea.
It's like stepping back into Dickens times.
The cottage has gorgeous views over the Fowey estuary, and for £500, you could stay for a week.

Look for the video tour on the left side of the added link.

Bath in Somerset. They have a Christmas market too this time of year.

The Lake District is beautiful. Maybe you could hire a cottage for the weekend, your budget should cover it. It's the perfect place for a romantic break!
