I want to move to Glasgow?

I am currently unemployed and living in Dundee. I have applied for alot of jobs in Glasgow. I know that my chances would be greatly improved if i actually resided there but i can't afford a months rent and a deposit in advance on a flat share. Short of selling all my stuff does anyone have any advice or suggestions that could help me get to Glasgow.
Additional Details
My plan is to get a bar job or two to keep me going until i can tie down more secure work. I have lots of bar experience and Glasgow has hundreds if not thousands of bars, pubs, hotels and cafes so i am pretty confident i can find work. I even plan to go to night school and learn web coding. :)

It is difficult enough for people who actually live in Glasgow to get accommodation, so unless you have someone who will put you up until you get enough money to rent somewhere your chances of getting a flat are pretty slim - sorry! You could still apply for housing just to get on the waiting list. Check out this link for more info - http://www.gha.org.uk/content/default.asp?page=s14
Or, as the person above me said, look for a live in job. Check out this link for more info - http://glasgow.gumtree.com/jobs/live_in
Good luck!

Glasgow is up there in my favourite cities--all the grand old architecture, and theres a buzz and energy to Scotlands biggest city. Hell, i even love the people and their accent!!
No city that created the genius of rab c nesbitt can be ignored!!!
As for getting there the train from Dundee is fast cheap and efficient. I think social housing though is in short supply, as Glasgow has had to absorb a lot of asylum seekers/immigrants (and dont get me wrong iam not a racist).
Good luck!!!

Why don't you move to West Lothian? It's cheaper than Glasgow, and has less stabbings. and we huv oor ain jail tae X). That way you can commute into Glasgow via the lovely M8 or on the bus, or soon to be new rail link :)

You'd better hurry tho, cause all these folk fae Edinburgh are invading us! They're even building a new Sainsbury's for them in a town renowned for being a neddy shitehole! :D

You sure you can speak the language?

It is unwise to move to any large city without funds and a job.

You do not say what sort of work you are looking for, but a 'live in' job would solve your problems, you could check out other jobs and a place to stay whilst having somewhere to live and an income.

James L, SHUT UP!!! No you did not get mugged three times in one visit to Glasgow.

Your a liar :-)

Did you know that the DSS can actually give you the money required, but there is no jobs in Glasgow, Glasgow city and the surrounding areas are full of Asians and Africans, the private sub lets are expensive, crime is high in Glasgow mainly between the white and Asian people, the east end is the worst area for gang fights and muggings, I moved from east end long time ago to the outskirts of Glasgow but my partner stays in east end. Govan, Kinning Park, Pollokshields, Cardonald, where I worked is full of Asian and some African people. I have family from Glasgow who moved to Aberdeen and Dundee several years ago and they would never come back to Glasgow.

Don't,
