I googled "holiday + dog" and there's loads of info, including tips to make the trip easier.
There used to be a book published every year that listed dog friendly places you can stay but I don't know the name.
Remember, if you go anywhere near sheep you must keep him on the lead. The farmer can shoot him if he's found in the field, not just worrying the sheep. Dogs cause sheep to lose their lambs as well as worrying, and are a serious financial problem for farmers.

Not from there but here in US , you can take your dogs to most motels. Just call and fine out who let's you . . Pem

You know I never wanted to go away without taking my dog either, I love her so much and she is a massive part of our life, but I made the big mistake of taking our dog on holiday to Cornwall with us and she hated it, there were none of her scents around, she didn't like the drinking water down their and dragging her here, there and everywhere was awful for her too and very exhausting, she got poorly with all the travelling and lack of water and we swore we would never do that to her ever again, now she goes in kennels and is much happier and relaxed when she comes home, find a really good kennel and have a holiday that is both stress free for your dog and for yourselves, ask your vet he will also tell you its a very stressful thing for dogs, don't beat yourself up about it please, respect your dog and have fun, be happy and good luck.

the AA do a Hotels and Bed and Breakfast book,they list places pets are welcome. Or Travel Lodge accept dogs,thou best to phone them and check they haven't changed there policies in the last year
