No, see as much as you can. There are undesirable areas in every town, in every country, you just need to be aware of your surroundings. you cant let fear stop you from exploring.
Hope you enjoy your trip. |

From the variety of answers you can tell no one can agree on an answer to your question. I love London but I hate some aspects of it e.g. commuting and house prices.
You should definitely visit London but don't miss out on some of the beautiful villages way outside London, e.g. Butleigh in Somerset, Dursley in Gloucestershire or Edale near Manchester. Northern cities in the UK have a feel and accent of their own. It's good if you can get to some remote beaches in Cornwall and some really historic towns like York or Bath. But if you only have 2 weeks I'd spend 5 days in a city, 5 in a town and 5 in some smaller places. People never like the city where they come from and don't know what they're missing until they travel. |

London is too expensive and too full. Go to places like Bath or Edinburgh instead |

There is nowhere in UK that is not safe to go to, but there are many towns that are not worth visiting such as Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Birmingham and Swindon to name just a few. |

Walsall.
The town has also been accused of being 'The ugliest place in the world', and like 'Ceaucescu's Romania with fast food outlets' by Theodore Dalrymple, in The New Criterion. |

London is a great place to visit or live in, albeit expensive, people from outside of London find it intimidating and can't handle it, therefore say they don't like it.
Avoid anywhere north of Watford, mainly redundant coal mines, slag heaps and factories anyway. |

Stay away from England - generally narrowminded and ill educated. It's a very violent place and they simply treat all foreign types as immigrants - just look at the immigrant section to see their rants!!!!. Stick to Northern Ireland, wales and Scotland. |

The only advise I would give, is don't go wandering off in to the estates and poorer suburbs of major cities. The same would be true of any country.
Personally, I'd concentrate on places other than London, which is unrepresentative of the rest of the country. |
