Yes, as soon as you get there turn right back and go home, or preferably do not go at all. It is one dangerous place. However, if you end up going. Here are some tips:
As soon as you enter the city keep your eye on your luggage at all times.
Don't ever lose sight of your wallet, as it will be gone before you can say John Lennon.
Only use your mobile phone when in a crowd; don't ever use it when hardly anyone is about. You will get it taken of you by some scally, trust me.
Do not stare at anyone, otherwise you will get a black eye. Do not stare at anyone youth wearing a hood, otherwise there is a good chance you will be shot.
Do not walk about at night on your own, or even being on your own in the day is unsafe, especially when there aren't many people about. You will get mugged if you walk about at night on your own.
Do not, I repeat do not, leave any valuables laying about. For example, do not leave your mobile phone, wallet, jewellery, etc on a table in a pub. It will be stolen, trust me.
And finally, if you see an armed robbery taking place (you must probably will), do not try and be a have-a-go-hero. It just ain't worth it.

lol, I'm only winding you up mate. That is the stereotype of Liverpool. People seem to think if you go to Liverpool you will get mugged or shot. Maybe in the mid 90s, but those days are well gone. Liverpool just ain't like that anymore.
Anyway, there is loads to do in Liverpool. You should visit Anfield, the albert dock, the beatles tour, etc. You will have a great time. |

I don't have to mention our hundreds of pubs, five or more theatres, ten or so museums and art galleries that are of national importance, massive choice of restaurants, historic buildings, Victorian parks, etc., etc.
Especially for the 2008 European Capital of Culture the City Council has laid on incredible amounts of road works, demolition of listed buildings and contruction as well as half-baked road planning that is causing traffic chaos. The Pier Head World Heritage Site is being dug up behind hoarding and to visit the Albert Dock you will need wellingtons to get to and cross the Dock Road, surrounded as it is by muddy pools.
Liverpool is a great city just for walking around and there are still a few bits the Council and its mates the property developers have yet to bugger-up, Come and enjoy them while they last! |

You could go to the new 'age of steam' railway painting exhibition which is being opened in the Walker art gallery this morning by Michael Palin, then visit St Georges hall just across the road which has guided tours from the visitor centre. sounds boring but I promise you, you will be impressed.
It would be an idea to know what you like, but follow the link and I am sure that you will find what you would like to do.
Another link is to explode the myth about crime and Liverpool, you are more likely to have a car stolen in Manchester, be burgled in Bristol, or mugged in Westminster than you are in Liverpool. |
