I will have $3,500, a month, and a back pack. If you were me, where would you go?

I will have approx. $3,000. I will have about 30 days. What do I need to do in Europe? If you had this money and this time where would YOU go? Anywhere is open, all of Europe, any style of trip. If it was yours, what would you do and see?

I would definitely go to London. Also Heidelberg, Germany.
And Paris, France. Have fun!

I'd be torn. There are two types of trips I'd like to do. In the first, I'd go to one city, rent a flat, and use that as my "home" while I traveled around the area. In the second, I'd spend the entire time bouncing from place to place, trying to see as much as I could.

So, for the first type of trip, I'd go to either London or Prague. I'd rent a flat and take a class. I'd spend my free days exploring the city and country in some depth, and go on long mini-breaks to other countries, always returning to my home base. In Prague, I'd be taking Czech language and culture courses. In London, I'd focus on theatre or television productions, even trying to get an internship or the like with the BBC!

For the second type of trip, I'd first fly into London - my favourite city - and stay there for a week. I'd see at least one show in the West End, tour the various sights, and then travel around the UK a bit - I'd see Oxford, and Stonehenge, and Brighton - three places I've always wanted to see, but never had time for.

I'd get to Edinborough and Glasgow. If time allowed, I'd see Wales, and parts of N. Ireland like Belfast and up by the Giant's Causway. I'd then travel down to Ireland and see Galway, Dingle and definately Dublin.

Then back to London, and on to Paris, and Barcelona. Paris for...well, God, because it's Paris! And Barcelona for the architecture - I love Gaudi.

I'd love to see Amsterdam (must stop in at a "coffee" house!) I'd see Vienna, and Krakow, and then spend a good long time in Prague.

If I had the time and funds afterwards, I'd see St. Petersburg.

First I would visit my family members in London, then probably go to Amsterdam for the rest of the trip, it's cheap to stay at an hostile and food is inexpensive.

I would come to the philippines if I were you.I know it is not europe, but we have over 7000 islands, beautiful beaches, blue seas..a beer is 30 pence,a good meal for two 3 pounds, accommodation cheap..wonderful people..and for that amount of money you could live like royalty.

start in rome, then travel to krakow, poland; prague, czech republic; coast of croatia; st petersburg, russia; and then baltic coast of estonia.

with cheap euro flights and railcards you should be fine with your budget.

I would look into a buying months travel card that would allow me to travel by rail around Europe, so that I could have the cost of train journeys covered before my trip but still have the freedom to decide where I want to go and for how long once there.

I would look at places I would ideally want to visit and research youth hostels near by each destination. I would plan a rough order of countries to visit but mainly leave my options open so that if I like a place I'll stay longer and also if I meet fun people I'll travel with them to their next destination.

I'd look at the sites pasted below;

One person and $3000, eh?
Once you get to Europe, traveling within Europe is cheap!

They have low cost airlines like Easyjet and RyanAir. For example, you can go from London to Paris for $40 one way. From Paris, you can take EasyJet or even SpanAir to Spain for another $40 one way. Got the idea how inexpensive it is??

If I had a month, and since I've been to Europe, I would concentrate on 1 or 2 countries I really want to revisit... like Spain or Italy. If I had to go to Italy, I would start at the base of the "Boot", and then travel by a combination of car, train, and plane within the country.

Have you tried Rick Steves web site? He has a bunch of ideas and even a schedule you can follow for a month. He has suggestions on hotel/hostals/hostels and even Pensions. In Italy I would try living in a barn... I heard there's people who "rent" a room in their barn. No, you don't sleep with the animals!

I would also pack light. Bring 1/2 of what I need and buy the rest in Europe. Every week I'd find a laundry place and get my stuff washed. As I am washing, I'll chat with the locals to find out things to do in their town.

Oh, my God, I'm so envious. I would love to be in your position. As for me, I would definitely go to France and Italy. Start with Paris, of course, then go to south and visit all those divine places such as Nice, Monte Carlo, Cannes; from there go to Savoy and head to Genova. Pls, visit Florance and Rome, obligatory.
Good luck! Have fun and enjoy France and Italy!

Just go to Europe and Germany in June for the World Cup. It is sure to be an exciting time.

In one of the previous answer is the most important tip: Buy a one month travel pass (if under 26 the interrail pass is the best).

From here it depend on what you are interested in: Culture, scenery, meeting people or whatever.

By my own experiences the following cities are rather interesting to see and offer a wide range of sites, people and fun: First of all Amsterdam, bustling not to huge, people from all over the world, some of the best galleries in the world,
London, same as amsterdam but raher expensive, even if satying in hostels. Berlin, new and old mixed, fun, rather inexpensive, Munich, as before but a bit more expensive, Brussels, seat of the European community goverment, chaotic but fun nonetheless, Paris...not much to say about this city, just great!!! but expensive in every way. South of France in General: warm lovely landscapes and not overly expensive as long as you stay away from the area around Nice, Italy's south with all the nice beaches and the ancieent sites is worth a visit as well, but look for the prices they differ extremely.

Spain in General, but avoid the touristic areas, as they are a bit to expensive.

Another possibility would be to book a week into a hotel via one of these travel agents like Thomas cook and do some tours from a base. you would have some not overly expensive accomodation and if possible or offered, one or two meals included.

As you see, here are a lot of possibilities, and if you tell what you like there should be a lot of suggestions showing up.

have fun in Europe
