I have lived in Spain, America, Turkey, Denmark and Dubai. I can honestly tell you that I am a southern Englishman and that this is where I belong.

Anyone who tells you that living in sunshine is desirable knows fu*k all about living abroad. They are just idiots who think cliches are desirable.

Britain is a brilliant country to live in. It is rich, it has a clement climate, and it is cultured. It is also rich in diversity. Some people will recoil at that last point, but that is because they don't know what it is like to live amongst bigotry and suffering. It is nice at first to be treated as though you are something special...but eventually, you get tired of it...and you want to see people treated decently.

Sitting in the sun is something monkeys do without thinking. Being literate and educated and sensitive is addictive to those who value humanity.

The answer to your question is no. A summer shower on an English village green is a living poem. Beating sun on a southern Spanish concrete village...is not.

I should be doing something else

Until recently I would always have said no but now it is something I would consider...

I did a few years ago for 4 years and i really regret moving back. I really cant think why I did.
It has given me the confidence though to know i can do it (i went on my own with no job lined up) so now im just biding my time and saving to decide where to go next.
Next time i go im not coming back either, other than some friends and family what does anyone have to keep them in this ruined country?

Don't like the sun or the heat. I prefer proper seasons. if I could move anywhere...I don't know. I might have a place somewhere else but i think i would always want a base here,as long as it was semi-rural in an area I liked. Where i live in England is beautiful, peaceful and safe....the grass is not always greener elsewhere. Infact i came from a country a lot of Brits think is paved with gold...but it isn't!

Circumstances have caused me to do so, but I look forward to returning to the UK, despite the way everyone seems to be moaning about things there. Living in the sun is all very well, but where I live we have to worry about hurricanes (one of which has just smashed several neighbouring islands to smithereens), about what would happen if one were involved in an accident which required surgical intervention (the visa waiver programme doesn't operate if a person needs to enter the USA on an air ambulance as the result of a medical emergency) and all manner of practical problems which arise as the result of not having a reliable postal service or an efficient economic infrastructure. Not to mention missing the fascinating cultural events I used to enjoy so much in the UK and the company of friends and relatives. There is a great deal to be said for living in the UK.

I don't live in England. I never have. Maybe I shouldn't be answering this question in that case, but I feel moved to do so. I have traveled some through England (and Wales and Scotland), and the way it is is the way I like it, why I love it, and that's its charm. I live in sunny, blazing Arizona, and while it's better than the insufferable Minnesota winter (why I moved here), it can't compare to England. There is nothing that gives me the same feeling as waking in the London morning, drawing back the curtains, and seeing that the big, grey city is still there. In the times I've been there I've had some rays of sun shed on me, but I've been rained on, and misted on, and mostly I've seen the most lovely cloudy days that feel like no other that I've ever had. Having nothing to do with patriotism to my own country, politics, or anything of the sort, I wish I could be in England instead. I sometimes feel like I belong there.

No, I like the colder weather. I like to go on holiday to hot countries, but I wouldn't live there.
