If you moved to England, would you get a British accent??

how long would it take?

Yes, you would acquire a slight british accent, but you wouldn't loose your american accent either, you would more or less have a combination of the both.

I'd say it would take at least a year or more.

what the fudge is a british accent!!! You may start to get a slight English accent, but there is no such thing as a british accent.

Mike M.
You might adapt one over the course of a few or several months.

My aunt moved to Washington state several years ago and no longer has any trace of a Texas accent so I imagine the same thing would happen where ever a person moves to. One just picks up the local dialect without thinking about it is my guess.

it is inevitable that you take on the speaking style of wherever you are, how long, depends on how fast your brain adapts these changes inyo everyday use.
in other words
You WILL BE ASSIMILATED SOONER OR LATER!

Yes, after a couple of years will have an British accent

Jacob A
Maybe. When I went to boot camp in another State I developed their accent in about a month.

**Jessiiee** xx
it depends how long you live in this country for.
but over time the english accent will start to adapt!

S. M.
Yes.. Look at Madonna (the Amrican singer) now. She has British accent

Might take a while, but these things can rub off on you quicker. I went to Jersey for vacation and was talking strangely for a couple weeks afterwards.

Jeff
It really depends on the upbringing of the person. I moved around as a kid, my Father worked for a company that transferred a lot. Because of that I never really got an accent. Since then I joined the military and again have been moving ever since...no accent.

P.S. Julie B, they speak English in Great Britain!!! Here's your sign!

theres no such thing as a british accent, or a english accent, there is hundreds of different accents all over the uk. i live in the south of england and have a southern accent but people who live in london which is only 60 miles away have a totally different accent

Why would you? If you moved to Texas would you start talking like a Texan?

Julie B
