If you were to visit the uk, where would you like to go/see/know?

I visited England end of last year, went to London, oxford and stratford upon avon. Those are good places, I would like to visit more of the country side as well as cycle thru the Thames Path. I would love to do it backpacker style again if I am going back the next time.
would really love to visit Bath as I heard lots of people saying its beautiful as well as Edinburgh, cheers

No, No, No, StoneHedge (sp?), the castle Tintagel, The shore of the North Sea. Hadrian's wall. The cool stuff, not a shopping mall!

There are cheap flights to other places as well. Why not fly to Glasgow, arrange for car rental while you book the flight, and set up for the Highlands, even hop on a ferry to the Western Isles. That's awesome. A bit of adventure but overall fab. Don't worry too much about following the tourist arranged package. Buy a good map (AA) and explore.

Well there are the midges and the weather but it is great. Big time.

London and Stratford are good for Culture. LIverpool is good for music culture. The national parks are good for the natural beauty and adventure sports (rock climbing, kayaking etc).

Definitely Warwick Castle. Loved it!!!!!!! All that history and being able to see how they lived all those years ago. Had a funny moment going through the lower ground area where the horses were kept. There are wax works figures dotted around the place. Us and the people nearby nearly had a heart attack as one of them was a real person and they moved and made us all jump. Very funny.

Oh and an unfortunate incident occured while walking along the wall. My mum was recovering from a virus and tried to walk the wall but could hardly breathe so had to go back. A couple of months later, after we had returned home, we received a newspaper clipping from some rellies about a man who walked the wall and died of a heart attack. So unhealthy people beware.

York Minster and the Dungeon were cool too.

I've been to England once before, and we went touring around the country. My favourite place was Barnstable, because they have the greatest scenery in the UK. They also had this wierd but tasty ice cream made of goat's milk.

Yes people do make their own visits, apart from London / Statford on avon, people do travel to Amble side, Windermeire, Kandle. . What people like us how make their own travel plan would like to know more offbeat places with transportation and accomodation details.

I would recommend places like Blackpool, Norwich, Alton Towers, farms with goats & lamas on them, all of zone-6 London, and all those zoos that, like my other suggestions, are not so overcrowded & overpriced

there is lots more than just visiting a capital city theres the different country side like the Norfolk broads the peak district etc there is different types of holiday the activity holiday hill walking, horse ridding, golf, fishing or narrow boating you could start in London then move round to see historic places like Stonehenge, Warwick castle, Portsmouth navel museum and there is always festivals beer, food, theatre etc our country is great and there is loads to see and do

Blackpool is closed... I went to see the lights last year, took my son - total waste of time, everything was closed, including the pleasure beach - at the busiest time of year too...

The first place I'd go is the nearest ferry or airport... the uk sucks - I should know, I've lived here my whole life... And why the hell does Stockport (near manchester) always stink of sh*t? apparently we stopped dumping waste into the rivers back in the late 80s, but just walking down the street you can see people gagging...

Don't get me wrong, not all of the uk's that bad, there's some really nice scenery once you get out of the city, but that's about it... blackpool looks like a refugee camp for russian mafia these days, Rhyl in north wales looks like a shanty town, and there isn't a decent brewery in the entire country... (I live in stockport, the home of robinsons brewery, I swear that beer is made with skanky water out of the filthy river)

Sorry if I've not been that helpful, but i believe in giving honest answers, I get out of this miserable country at every opportunity, and i rarely meet people who see the uk as a holiday destination...

I would have thought it would be easy to plan a holiday in the uk though, i've stayed in hotels all over the country through work, and i've never seen one full - just walk in and ask for a room, you don't even need reservations for most things in this country

as for what to do while on holiday in the uk?

sit next to the window, stare out at the rain, go to the pub, sample some narcotics, get mugged, sample more narcotics - realise they're sh*t, throw up. sample more narcotics even though you already know they're crap - nothing better to do, this should last anybody stupid enough to come to the uk on holiday about 2 weeks, then they should leave, and warn everybody just how crap this country is
