I think your boyfreind may just turn out to be sneakier than you thought!! Thats like the oldest trick in the book
- 'Wait till she isn't expecting it, then amoungst a flurry of legal papers, slip in the "Your boyfreind owns you" contract'

It can be done for financial responsibility.
One way I have heard HM Immigration vet visitors is to ask how they intend to support themselves while they are in country. Basically they are checking that you are there as a visitor and not as an immigrant.
So if they think the boyfriend has the money and you don't then they can ask him to assure them that he is paying your way, he is your visible means of support.
I used to be asked who I was working for when I came to the US. When I visited Canada they were very interested in who was paying me and where, that was for the one time I went to Calgary on business for three weeks.
So it's not that unusual. |

That's very strange. What country are you in/travelling to? Laws in certain countries might be different, and expect a man to be responsible for their woman.
Even so, it's still very weird. He should not sign anything like that, at least not without a proper explanation. |

don't sign anything, u are both going - why should just u take responsibility for something.
REALLY, don't sign anything.
Asking u to sign something before u go on holiday..............that is just weird. there could be a hidden agenda there, be careful. |

I've never heard of that so dont know what he wants you to sign, i check with him exaclty what your signing |

I have only seen this when traveling to some foreign countries. It is a formality when issuing a visa to request a letter or to sign a document stating that your travel partner (usually the man, or whoever may have been natively born in the country your are visiting) is responsible for you legally while traveling.
It's basically done to emphasize that you are considered a guest and need to be on your best behavior, and if you aren't, the person you are traveling with can be held responsible for your actions as well.
I've seen this requested in South America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, but very rarely.
You should definitely ask for a copy - especially since you're a responsible adult as well, right? :-)
Where are you traveling to? |

what? that is really weird and definitely nor accurate... as soon as you turn 18, you're responsible for yourself and no one else is... |
