I haven't been to London in a few years but my favorite places to go were Kensington Market located on Kensington High St. and Portobello Rd in Notting Hill (West London). Kensington Market, as I remember it, was a ecletic array of shops with 2nd hand clothing, fun wigs and makeup, and all sorts of jewellery... the place reeked liked Patchouli oil (very hippy). Kensington High St in general is a great place to score some fun stuff. Portobello Rd is mainly known for antiques, but honestly, you can find everything and anything there. Remember the movie Notting Hill with Hugh Grant? There is a scene where he is walking through a market and the seasons are changing... he is supposed to be going through the Portobello Rd market. Covenant Garden and Camden Town are also great places to find little hand me down stores, but I found Covenant Garden very touristy and Camden Town is a little seedy... I was in high school when I lived there and I was not allowed to go into Camden past dark.

Hope this helps!!! Have a blast!

Camden Market, Portobello Road, Covent Garden, Carnaby Street.

As for unusual shops, go to Cyberdog in Camden, that should fulfill your needs :)

you picked a bad day to go.. to be honest.. camden lock market is "fake" trendy.. errm portabello road.. brick lane.. petty coat lane.. to name a few

portabello is on friday and saturdays. There is also a market in greenwich, which is different.. an ex girlfriend took me there once.

as for shops.hhm dunno.. I know some cool places to visit but I wasn't ever one for shopping unless it's music equipment =)

I only wish i could get as excited as you about going to London. As for shops etc, you won't need to do much walking around, there are plenty!

messyworm
Try Camden Market. It's quite a weird place, people sell completely normal things to completely weird. You can pick up some real weird stuff. There's gotta be some second hand stuff there to. Nice? Ummmmm try Covent Garden, got nice shops and some nice cafe's. Hope this helps

Harrods - don't be put off by the fancy front of the building, once you are inside they expect you to haggle over the price.

Camden is the place to go for bargains

London is too big to give you specific shops, and I don't know what part of London you're going to.

Best thing to do is just go with the flow - work out a time you're arriving and when you have to be back, and just wonder. You'll find shops you love, stalls you love, shops you don't like - but you'll have a great time!

Borough Market south of the river is good. You can visit the London Dungeon which are nearby. Unfortunately I think they are the biggest rip off in the city.

I can't name a decent market in London anymore, they've all become commercialised. Certainly avoid Camden like the plague - over-priced cr@p and people of dubious character lurk there.

go see those werid cop guys and mess w/ them they dont do anything XD

Shops wise I'd recommend Debehams opposite Bond Street station, 4th floor there is a 50% sale on bedware - really nice sets by designers.

YES, go into a dark ally in a bad London neigh boor hood and get hijacked on your airplane!

then Go to the nearest public restroom, find a toilet full of diarrhea, and stick your head inside. Open your mouth, and let the acidic diarrhea enter your mouth and slide down your throat. You will feel the pleasure of having someone else's fecal matter in your stomach. Enjoy!

other then that
happy travels!
