You must be independent to be going on your own anyway, you'll need to use your independence:
DON'T talk to people on tubes/buses(Michelle F=joker)
NEVER wander aimlessly
WALK with purpose or pick a spot to stand next to a shop window where you can stop and get your bearings
BUY an A-Z
WATCH OUT there are people who will zero in on anyone who looks vulnerable
WHY are you going?
Use Tourist Information booths - on most major stations
WORK OUT the travel zones(1-6) and use travel cards/oyster for getting about
JOIN an adult education class if you don't meet people through work etc
GOOD LUCK
(You can do it!)

There is so much to do in London, believe me, you won't be bored! Jump on one of the red double decker buses for a tour of the city to get an idea of where things are. Your tour should also include a boatride on the Thames. After that, you will probably have more of an idea of what you want to go back to see.
Gosh, I'm assuming you have never been to London, but maybe you are saying you just want to meet someone there?

If your really out going you'll meet people in no time.

Are you for real? If you don't want to go, don't go. If you're so afraid of being alone, you might be better off staying home. Travel is an adventure and you need to approach it as such.
