i live near newcastle half the year. these answerers talk about the city and the people (geordies specifically) as if they're bad things. the geordie people are warm and friendly, the city has everything you might need and the outlying areas are lovely. there are hospitals right in newcastle and also in most of the nearby towns. i'm told most of the schools are pretty good, although i can't be certain since my own children attended school in america.
i really love the area where i live but will refrain from saying where it is because too many of these people on this site are haters and i don't really want to hear all the bad stuff they think they know about the place. i'm only 20 minutes from newcastle though and there are 3 hospitals within a 3 mile radius from my house and at least 6 schools nearby that i can think of right off the top of my head. our neighbourhood is very safe and clean and unlike other parts of the country, it's very affordable.
good luck |

Why not look North out towards the Morpeth area of Nortumberland, it's a lot nicer than Newcastle and well within commuting distance with a countryside feel to it. Not too sure about the disability side but it's worth a look you might get lucky |

dont do it, go some where else, try the lake district, but dont go to newcastle, there are just too many geordies there, and a bad football team, lake district, thats the place, Gods country. |

Reuters have reported of fleeing Geordie's besieging Newcastle Airport trying to get flights to Baghdad. They claim the situation is so bad in Newcastle that they will take their chances with the terrorists.A spokesman for Nortumbria police said that Newcastle City Centre is now a no go area.Scouse gangsters to blame, trying to muscle in on bootleg Brown Ale operations.A spokesman for The G.R.A.(Geordie Republican Army)has said that they will work with the police to try and regain control of the city.Tony Blair flys to America for advice from Mr Bush.Police spokesman said they will make a big push this weekend when Liverpool play Everton, hoping the scousers go back to watch the match.More to follow.
Seriously though I'm a Geordie and there is nothing wrong with Newcastle or Geordie's.You will be made welcome, which is more than i can say for the south.Jesmond,Benton,Long Benton, all nice places and handy for the Metro into the TOON.If you don't believe me type in Newcastle in search and read some of the letters by people who have ACTUALLY being to Newcastle.Newcastle is ideal for family's,not far from the coast or country. Also we have The Metro Centre which is unbelievable.Don't take any notice of some of the crap answers to your question.Make the move. |

Gosforth, South Gosforth and Jesmond Dene used to be quite nice back when I lived in Newcastle (not neccassarily BECAUSE I lived there though!) and have good access to schools, parks, town and hospitals.
Plus the cost of living is cheaper up there.
All the best and God bless. |

why on earth would you even be considering of moving to newcastle for. I'm sure there are other places that have disability hospitals that are alot nicer. |
