In the UK when talking about distances are miles used or do we use kilometers ?

miles - soon it will be finally changing to km's, I think. they have been meaning to fully switch over to metric for the past 20 years or so, it's always been a half-finished job in this country, which is why why have the confusing situation of using both systems for different things and supermarkets sell beer in litres whilst pubs and bars sell it in pints!

- to answer your additional details questions a journey from London to Liverpool would be expressed in miles on the road signs and that is how the vast majority of people would refer to it.

The forces of evil would have us use kilometres, as if we were no more than Europeans! But all true children of Albion use miles, as nature intended!

And I'm not convinced by this 'New Pence' decimal business either!

I see you mention London to Dublin.
In Ireland (not UK) we use Kilometers, if that's any help.

People in schools are taught to use kilometers but most people still use miles. Its probably best to use miles.

all albions talk in terms of kms, think in terms of kms , write in terms of kMs ------every inch of their brain

all the road signs are in miles so most of us use miles until they change the signs to km
