Probably because we're not so addicted to staying in our cars. Most people still want to sit down in a restaurant to eat out.
If we are having a take away meal then we either phone in advance and just collect it or we wait in the shop.
Also, we don't have the spare land that the USA has so the opportunities for that sort of driveway is scarce. |

Because we like to get out of our cars to eat our food |

Theres a few in Aberdeen, all the Mcdonalds, BK(apart from the union st ones) and the KFC at the Haudigin are drive through.
Im glad theres not, as there are enough fast food places as there is, and not enough places for a family to eat proper food at a decent price. |

There are plenty about, I don't think we have the capacity for greasy food as Americans do. |

I ate in my car the other day, and I felt like a right loser!
We aren't as addicted to fast food, and can cope with the walk from the car park to the 'restaurant' if needs be. |

Less space, plus we walk more generally speaking than the average American. :0) |

It's a question of supply and demand - if people in the UK wanted drive through places then people would open them.
Generally speaking, if anyone wants fast food they can get a takeaway and eat it in the comfort of their own home. Why would they prefer to eat it in their car?
I've never understood the popularity of such places in the US - I can only assume it is because the distances are much greater and so people often stop to eat while they are travelling. |

In the UK fast food places such as MC Donald's, KFC and burger king are usually built in town centres to attract the shoppers. There si no space to build drive through in busy cities and towns. Only the ones built in an area that is less built up can hold drive thrus. But lets face it in the UK the only less built up areas tend to be in the middle of nowhere, people don't want to have t drive out of city bounds to go through a drive thru when they could more easily, drop someone off outside a McDonald's and have it ordered as take away. Easier probabily closer to home and no doubt quicker. we only have one where i live and it's out of the main area of the city making it unaccessable to a lot of people. |

Because America is a huge country so there is going to be more drive-thru's |

most originated in usa
and have only just transferred to the uk
and with the recent cut down on fast food
more are not really being planned to be built either |

It might have to do with limited space. The layout of many cities here is centuries old. Adding things like drive-thrus would take up a lot of space. |
