Bristol is one of the UK's nicest most affluent cities, why on earth even consider moving to Manchester the European Capital of Gun Crime! Manchester is a horrible city regularly voted as one of the worst places to live in the whole UK. As a mother to move your child to such a rough area like Manchester is grossly irresponsible and in my view your children should be taken into care. |

There are some good websites for both cities. But I would have said that Manchester is a good place to live. There are some good private and state schools, the former being MGS (Manchester Grammar) and WGS (Withington Girls' School), the latter scattered all over the city and suburbs. Without knowing your budget, one would have to speak generally. If you are fond of the Lake Districts, the north(ish) of the city would be a good place to live - Glossop, Rochdale, Eccles, Monton, etc. If you like the Peak Districts for walks, etc., areas around Cheadle, Wilmslow, Cheadle Hulme are known for their salubrious character. They are also conveniently situated for the excellent international airport and the M6. With the M60 ring road, the large Trafford Centre, the mecca for shoppers, and the new real snow indoor ski-slope is very accessible. There are 3 (4 if you count Salford) world-class universities in the city, and the Manchester University has been growing very rapidly in size and stature. There are also some dreadful parts, but which city hasn't? |

Well I'm not sure about Leeds but two nice places in Manchester are Prestwich (esp the Heaton Park area-which is very sought after) and Worsley.Prestwich has some great schools (both primary and High schools),it has really good access to the City centre via road/bus/tram,there are lots of shops,a huge park and really friendly locals. It's very quiet, clean & safe. |

Manchester: Avoid the city centre the housing prices are very high and avoid the emmediate south of the city centre Moss Side, Longsight.......not nice area's to bring up children.
Try the North of Manchester, Bury area. Or the South Bramhall. Depends on your budget. |

Is there any chance you could visit both places for short periods to get a feel for them? I know Bristol and it seems to be a lively busy place with plenty to do. I have never been to Manchester or Leeds but neither city has the reputation that Bristol does. |

DONT MOVE INTO MANCHESTER ,,,,,,,,,WORST MOVE YOU CAN MAKE ,,,,,,,,,,TRY ONE OF THE SUBURBS TOWNS LIKE BOLTON ,,BURY ,,OR GO TOWARDS THE PEAK DISTRICT ,AND IF YOUR GOING TO WORK IN MANCHESTER JUST TRAVEL IN DAILY |
