Is Bristol really bad for drugs?

My brother lived in Bristol and has a drug and alcohol problem. He recently told me Bristol is really bad with drugs. I've visited the city and zoo and it seems quite a nice place. He lived somewhere near a famous iron bridge there, don't really know the suburbs.

Anywhere can be bad for drugs, if you look for them.
It's probably not great, being a big city, but i'm sure there are lots of really nice areas. Drugs aren't hard to avoid if you want nothing to do with them.

No Bristol is great for drugs

I lived in or around Bristol most of my life and I can tell you it is no better or worse than the anywhere else really! If you want drugs you can find them but they dont walk up to you and offer themselves...most of the time anyway. I have been offered sexual favours more times than drugs in Bristol, mainly walking up Gloucester road at 3am while drunk (not a good idea!)

Not that bad tbh. There are worse places and there are better places. Probably more worse places though.

Parts of it are, like any big city. I have lived in Bristol for years and have heard of bad drug problems but have never had any contact or observed any drug related behavior. It sounds like he lived in Clifton, where I live. It is an upmarket suburb, in fact one of the poshest places to live in the West of England, but has a large student population.

Define bad
If you're looking for drugs and can't find any then that's bad
On the other hand if you don't want drugs but the place is awash with junkies and pushers then that's bad as well.

It's not any worse than other cities. It's sad that your brother has a problem and I hope he is getting some help but he can't blame his problem on where he lives/lived. thousands of people live in Bristol withour resorting to drugs and drink!

I've never heard of anything too bad going on around bristol. But, ultimately, you're always gonna get drugs in big cities. Sorry.

Bristol's drug and alcohol problems are no worse than any other city in the country.
