there are some beautiful places like the lake district for one.

lots of people do speak french as most people study a little at school, however it is not spoken widely.

arebours
There are beautiful parts of England and not so beautiful parts as there are with most places.
Aussi je parle français une peu, mais c'est a bit awful.

If youre looking for beautiful scenery, head for the "Lake District" National Park in Cumbria, a northern county of England. After that, then the "Peak District" (rolling countryside) and Yorkshire (rugged moorlands). Cornwall in the sw is stunning too. Yes the majority of it is lovely as our "green belt areas take care of that, however as arebours says, there are plenty of not so pretty places too. Most of our cities are steeped in history and even though Im a northerner, London is a must. French is one of the most commonly taught languages in schools but the English are famous for their lazyness in learning other languages Im afraid, so dont hold your breath.

Wendy35 loves Hot Firemen!!
I was surprised that the UK had some lovely places. About 4 years ago I went to Yorkshire & I was amazed how beautiful it was.

Sarah
hunny there are some parts of england you just dont wanna see TRUST ME! unless you like the drug scene and that..

however there are some beautiful countryside parts - personally i quite like cornwall

Shona S said most people in England don`t speak English...
what a stupid remark!

Why do Scottish and Welsh people speak English instead of their mother tongue?

In Wales, signs are in Welsh and English...why? Can`t the Welsh survive wthout using English?

As for the Scots, why don`t they speak Gaelic!

Now for your question...England does have beautiful places, as does other parts of the UK. Much depends on what scenery you would class as beautiful.

Many schoolchildren learn French.

Joanne
its the most beautiful island in the world.

OhAshy
Some parts of England are really beautiful

People always say Scotland has the lovely scenery, but I find it's really England (and I live in Scotland!)

Jellybean
Scotland and Wales have better scenery than England. Most people in England can't speak English never mind French.

The south is too built up, and the midlands are quite industrial, but Wales and the borders, most of Northen England and most of Scotland have some very beautiful areas. Even the south and midlands have some wonderful ares, but a bit sparse compared to the other areas.

If it wasn't for the climate and the people, it would be perfect.
