The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK, or Britain) is a country to the north-west of mainland Europe. It comprises the island of Great Britain, the north-east part of the island of Ireland and many small islands. Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK with a land border, sharing it with the Republic of Ireland Apart from this land border, the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea. The largest island, Great Britain, consisting of England, Scotland & Wales, is linked to France by the Channel Tunnel.
The United Kingdom is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy comprising four constituent countries — England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales — with Elizabeth II as head of state. The Crown Dependencies of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, formally possessions of the Crown, are not part of the UK but form a federacy with it. The UK has fourteen overseas territories, all remnants of the British Empire, which at its height encompassed almost a quarter of the world's land surface. It is a developed country, with the fifth-largest economy in the world by nominal GDP.
Britain was the world's foremost power during the 19th and early 20th century, but the economic cost of two world wars and the decline of its empire in the latter half of the 20th century diminished its leading role in global affairs. The UK nevertheless retains major economic, cultural, military and political influence today and is a nuclear power, with the second highest defence spending in the world. It holds a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, and is a member of the G8, NATO, the European Union and the Commonwealth of Nations.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a state consisting of four countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales
Great Britain is an island on which are the countries of England, Scotland and Wales

Yes England is a Country.
As the title U.K.,[United Kingdom] suggests we are all Countries in there own right, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland & England..
I thought the people of my country, Northern Ireland were known as the Northern Irish.
The U.K., is, actually, Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Great Britain, or as sometimes called "the mainland" in Northern Ireland consists of, Scotland,Wales & England and, when you include the country of Northern Ireland that's when these collective nations-with a common bond,~British citizens;becomes the U.K.

Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England are all separate countries.

Wales, England and Scotland come together to form Great Britain and then Northern Ireland comes in to form the United Kingdom.

Then that is what it says on our passports The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Proud♥2bEnglish♥
yes England is a country

Jeff K
England is a country, and they are united under a kingdom.

The UK is like a unitary STATE consisting of 4 COUNTRIES, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales. Northern Ireland shares a border with the Republic of Ireland. They're both seperate countries, though Northern Irish people typically have a British passport

lol hope this helps...

Yep.

The UK = The United Kingdom

buildypuss
The United Kingdom when we are all logged together, but separate individual countries

RichB
They are all countries, but not sovereign countries in the sense of being wholly independent and self-governing entities.

They are constituent countries of the United Kingdom, which is a sovereign nation state.

=)
The UK, which is short for the United Kingdom, is the country.

music_lovin_miss
A simple way to think of it might be like this:

You've heard of Europe right?
Well, you've heard of countries lke France, Spain, Germany as well, haven't you?

Those are countries IN Europe,
whereas Northern Ireland, England, Sotland and Wales are countries IN the UK.

Course there are a lot more countries in Europethan in the UK, but i thought explaining it like that might make it simple

......and the guy that said Wales is a principality must be English!

Nickii..♥ツ
Yeah they are all seperate counties

And UK = United Kingdom

countries which make britain

?
UK - United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom, consisting of Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland) and Northern Ireland, is twice the size of New York State. England, in the southeast part of the British Isles, is separated from Scotland on the north by the granite Cheviot Hills; from them the Pennine chain of uplands extends south through the center of England, reaching its highest point in the Lake District in the northwest. To the west along the border of Wales—a land of steep hills and valleys—are the Cambrian Mountains, while the Cotswolds, a range of hills in Gloucestershire, extend into the surrounding shires.

Alex
Wales is a Principality, not a country.

LuciJayne
Wales, Scotland N.Ire and england are all countries.

They all have their own capitals:
Wales - Cardiff
Scotland- Edinburgh
N.Ire - Dublin (i hope this is the right one)
England - loundon

They also have their own national flags, Wales have their own national anthem, and wales, n.ire and scotland have their own government.

I Like Old Escorts
The UK is a sovereign state and England is a **** hole.

Scotland isn't going to be in the UK for much longer.
