I realize it shares the same body of earth with Scotland but I have a bet with someoneand this person believes England is a penisula ? What do you think ?
England is a country on the British Isles. It is neither an island nor a penninsula unto itself.
greenorlagh
It also shares the same bit of an ISLAND with Wales.
England certainly is not a peninsula NOR is it an island. It is one country on an island known as Great Britain.

It is NEITHER!
*A peninsula is an area of land almost completely surrounded by water except for an isthmus connecting it with the mainland.
*An island is a tract of land completely surrounded by water, and not large enough to be called a continent.
England is part of Great Britain, an island, consisting of Scotland, England and Wales. It is the largest island of the British isles and makes up the larger part of the territory of the United Kingdom.

It's neither. England is a country which forms part of a larger country, the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). England is found on the island of Great Britain, which it also shares with Wales and Scotland. So England is part of an island. It can't be calles a peninsula because it occupies so much of the landmass of Great Britain, and because it itself contains several peninsulas.

A peninsula is a piece of land that is almost surrounded by water.Hence England is a peninsula.

I can't believe that someone has asked this question. Surly you did geography in school.

England, Wales and most of Scotland share an island.
You could take the view that England is a promontory from the mainland of Scotland, although you might get an adverse reaction from those who reside south of Hadrian's Wall.
