the only answers you are going to get are from other people's experiences. The only way to truly experience life is to go out and live it yourself! I would heed the warnings, it does get rough, but take extra care and be cautious which is the advice I would give when facing any new town or city.
If you extract only the negative, then you will experience only the negative.
I have lived in New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, and other high crime cities and I can tell you that though the crime is there, I lead a full and enriching life.
The bullets will just graze on by you Not a problem!lol

Giorton is like many areas of Manchester it has OK parts and parts you wouldn't want to walk about alone at night.
It's fine to visit as long as you take the same precautions you would visiting any new area.

I have lived there and had no problems. I can't imagine why you would want to go there because there is nothing there.
The shopping centre and market has shrunk over the years.
There are pockets that have kept their character around Sunny Brow park and Far Lane but it is a district next to Longsight, which is one of the roughest parts of Manchester.

Gorton itself is perfectly safe.

You won't be if you go there, though.

It's one of the "Rougher" areas of Manchester. Stay away, there's virtually nothing there worth seeing anyway.
