Is London Heathrow Immigration Control the slowest in the world?

Next time you are flying out of the UK, why dont you take 10 minutes to have your iris scanned. Then when you arrive back in the UK you can you the fast track Iris scanning booth at passport control. I have never seen more than 2 people queing to use it.

You've obviously never been to JFK in New York. Not only do they have you queueing for hours they also treat everyone as potential criminals and terrorists. The immigration are also rude, never smile and are completely humourless. Basic manners are beyond them.

Luddite is correct, not only are they slow, and rude but some of them barely speak English.

Heathrow is very slow, but it's not the slowest I've come across ... the worst was Auckland in New Zealand, the queues seemed like miles long and their customs were just out of this world as they check your luggage for seeds and animal skins ... it didn't help that we had just come off a long-haul flight and were exhausted

No. The new Terminal 5 is great - five minutes. Havana, Cuba, took me two hours. And Miami is fairly awful - an hour at least, with lots of rudeness. I did seven hours in Zimbabwe once - that was my worst. Ever been to India? Mumbai is bad. Heathrow is pretty good - not the world's best, not the worst by a long way. And, yes, Stansted is very bad at the moment - an hour jammed like sardines in a queue in a corridor before you even get to the immigration hall. Never had more than 30mins anytime at Heathrow. With Iris, now a matter of 30secs.
Time of arrival is key to all these - arrive at the same time as lots of other flights and there'll be a problem in any airport.

not the slowest...but perhaps the 2nd / 3rd in ranking...but definitely one of the worst... some of the officers are EXTREMELY rude...but i cant complain now can i?

i stopped by London for a transit and they made me wait like for 2 hours just to let me pass...im supposed to be going to Ireland(by the way)..

Come on, they need to keep up their reputation! Haven't noticed anything myself though but it does depend on what time of day you arrive.
