It is great, but I do live here. I think we are lucky because there isn't much knife crime or shootings and there is lots to do whatever age you are |

Yes, I totally agree.
I lived down south for a year when in my teens and the first difference I notices was the local transport was cr*p, it was also dirty - pollution-wise.
Like you say, Newcastle is a great base to travel to different places.
And of course the night-life is smashing! |

Agreed. Though in a response to a previous answer: How does a good football team make a city better? I'd have thought it would have made it worse with all the hooligans. |

I too am heavily biased - and I really miss Newcastle having been forced to move 'down South' to keep my job.
But, in answer to your question, Newcastle is undoubtedly the greatest city in the UK... |

not to shore about night life as London +Manchester@ Sheffield are lots better
not every one is friendly but granted 80%are its no cheaper than lots of places in UK yes is very easy to get round if you don't use a satnat as the stupid thing gets lost in the tine tunnel and that is a bloody nightmare in rush hour traffic cud compeer with London in grid lock if not better ...but they are a lot more polite in new castle lol
there are some very beautifully beaches if you are brave enough to go in the winter lol better in summer
,,, and i love going up north cose lots of m8ts there |

There is a reason why it is so cheap, who wants to live somewhere cold that is so far from the rest of the country? |

You funny. Newcastle is insular and nowhere near as cosmopolitan as other cities. It's more like a big town than a city.
Manchester is miles better in every way - better uni, better bands and clubs, better shops, miles better football team, and the Lake District is the most beautiful wilderness in the UK. |
