Is Scarborough horrible?

Am thinking of booking a posh hotel there for a romantic getaway as Whitby is quite far on the train.... but is it as horrible as people say???

It's dirty and lets just say that i would not walk around alone at night and make sure you lock your doors

Like everywhere else. Good bits and bad bits. there the north beach and south beach and u can avoid arcades if u want or go spend all day there . there's a lovely harbour with fresh seafood and you can have boat trips and see the wild life. There's nice walks on the cliffs and there's some great hotels, restaurants and shops. It's close to the north york moors as well. It's definitely not horrible. (Blackpool's my idea of hell on earth but some people love it)
Have a lovely time

It's quite nice on the whole, as long as you stay away from the city centre on a friday/saturday night....full of drunken yobs

Preferable to most seaside resorts, and all the ones in the south.

Ignore Dad D Scarborough is nothing like he said. I haven't been very often, but my friend goes a lot of the time as she has family there and it is a very nice place xx

scarbrough is lovely we went a couple of weeks ago when we stayed at haven it poured down with rain but we had fun you have to go in the haunted mansion on the sea front omg it was hilarious 5 of us went in and i think we scared each other well worth the money we paid about 2 pounds there is lots of little shops and you can catch a tram up to the high street if you wanna do some shopping a lovely place you gotta go

I thought it was the posh part of Yorkshire, OK when I went there couple of years ago, but this weather, you sure. Hop over to Bruges on the train, that's romantic and prob the same price at the end of the day.

Peasholm Park in Scarborough is lovely - well worth a visit!

As a choice between Scarborough and Whitby I would choose Whitby although both are better when its sunny. Whitby has more character and you could get a train to York and then then coach to Whitby which might reduce the cost and give you a chance to see some of the North Yorkshire countryside.
Check out some travel websites and reviews before you decide, but for romance it must be Whitby.

I am from morecambe now that is a horrible place, but i can tell you scarborough is very nice, we go their quite a lot. If you do go make the effort and go to whitby as this is a very beautiful place, a must is a boat ride around the bay.
