Is bounremouth a main uk airport?

Show all answers

ron
Bournemouth (BOH) is a regional airport not a main one, there are a dozen around the country, places like Exeter, Leeds, Coventry etc. and are useful for connections and short haul flights.

Em x
No, not a main UK airport no. It will be used for smaller flights and connections!

Didn't even know they had one, apparently they do, so i guess the answer is no. Gatwick, Heathrow are.
and its Bournemouth

BillyB8
Bournemouth is a regional airport but has the runway and facilities to accept almost any aircraft. And along with Southampton are used when Heathrow/ Gatwick are fogbound.

Coastal winds keep them clear from fog for 99% of the time.

JOHN B
Yes, they have flights to all of Europe and America. The one thing is that they have fewer flights no waiting around or long queues. check them out on their web site. A very pleasant airport!!!!!

chip2001
You can get some package holiday flights to Spain and Greece, but you don't get many international charter flights to main European cities.

Until recently charter services and diversions from other UK airfields made up the bulk of the airport's commercial airliner movements, however scheduled services now dominate.

Flights from the airport serve;

* Spain (Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol, Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura)
* Italy (Tuscany, Lake Garda, Sorrento, Neopolitan Riviera)
* Greece (Corfu, Crete, Rhodes, Zante)
* Cyprus (Paphos)
* Turkey (Dalaman)
* Austria (Innsbruck)
* Portugal (Algarve, Madeira)
* Malta
* Tunisia

Passengers handled in 2007 rose by 13% to 1,083,379 which was the first time passenger numbers past the million mark.

David S
Its a small regional airport specialising in holiday charters, though there are a few sheduled services. Bournemouth is on the main line rail network; trains run every 30 minutes to London Waterloo and take 1 hour 40 minutes; you can change at Woking 1 hour 15 minutes away for an express bus link to Heathrow Airport. Cross country trains also operate regularly to Reading,Oxford,Birmingham etc. Most trains to London stop on route at Southampton Airport about 30 minutes travel time from Bournemouth. Southampton Airport has sheduled services to a number of European destinations.
