You are right, the UK is not part of the USA. They were around 1776, when the Americans defeated the british in the war that gave America independence from England.

evanlah
I hope you are the one that says it is not,
because...IT IS NOT!

Nononononononoooooooooooo!

Is he thinking of new england or something? If not I dont understand how he could be anymore wrong! If england and USA were both joined countries then we would have passports for both countries and wouldnt have to bother with visas etc. when visiting.

Until the war of independence the USA was a British Colony, so in fact the reverse of what your brother is suggesting. You may remember events from history such as the Boston Tea Party which was a protest against British taxation of America without representation.

But for quite a long time now we've been two separate countries (despite the cosy relationship that our respective leaders try to foster).

Pip
No. ????????
