United Kingdom = England, Wales. Scotland, and North Ireland,
And yes, England and the United Kingdom are in Europe.
But geographically not attached. |

That depends on how you define Europe. Geographically, we are part of Europe - we're the little green island next to France. Politically, we're part of Europe (assuming Europe still exists once the Irish votes are counted). But if you wear the right kind of glasses, the Channel is a huge divide whereas the Atlantic Ocean is merely a creek. |

They are - the rest of europe is also known as mainland europe as they are connected and the UK is an island.
Hope you didn't tell them the UK wasn't in Europe - what continant would you put them in? |

The UK is in Europe and England is part of the UK, however if the kingdom disbands then our membership is invalid as all agreements are signed by the UK not England Ireland Scotland or Wales. |

Of course they (we) are. We are not part of the Euro but neither are lots of other countries in Europe. |

Yes, it isn't, England is in Planet Mars. People from England have green skin, three eyes, six legs ;-)
I'm not meant to mock you, mate, but you're wrong. The British Isles are insular Europe, just like Baleares Isles, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Cyprus etc. Italy, Spain, the Balkans and Scandinavia are peninsular Europe.
Britain is as european as Germany and France, which are continental Europe instead.
I hope it can help. |

I believe the U.K. is in Europe or the "Old World" as it's also known, otherwise that ferry crossing I took to France recently was a damn sight longer than I thought it was. |

England is a country of the United Kingdom. Geographically and politically its part of Europe. But the British people don't consider themselves part of Europe. I've had this conversation many times with people from work, and they call going to Spain, France or Germany 'Going abroad'. And people from work don't think of themselves as being a part of Europe - they think of themselves as being a part of the 'British Isles' (Britain, Ireland and the Isle of Man). |

Yes it is, this confuses me, where on earth could it possibly be if not Europe. Its not its own continent! It isn't necessarily refferred to as Europe, but most people will say mainland europe if they are not referring to the UK.
The person above whowrote that we do not consider ourselevs European is wrong of course we do, just because were not georgraphically attatched to mainland Europe doesn't mean we are not European and of course we say were going abroad when we got to mainland Europe, its a different country, thats what abroad is, I even say I'm going abroad if I go to Scotland or Wales becaue its still another country.
Also that person says that we consider that we are from the British Isles, well of course, it is where we are from but that doesn't stop us being European too. Like someone from the USA is an american citizen as well as being a citizien of North america as in the continent. Also the British Isles is not England Ireland and the Isle of man, Ireland is not part of Britain nor is northern Ireland. The British Isles Is England, Wales and Scotland and the hundreds of coastal island. The Uk is all that plus notherthern ireland but Ireland is its own country not part of britain or the united kingodom. Sorry I'm ranting now. |
