Is it a waste of money?

My family and I are going to England and Scotland this March. I was just wondering if the trip is really worth all the money and lack of sleep. There is an eight hour time difference from where I live to London.

Thanks

yeah. its not that bad. people are just over exaggerating.
you need to go to london and go to the west end to see a show (unless you have been to broadway then it just seems rubbish) and go to selfridges and hamleys. im 15 and turn into a 3 year old when i go to london.
scotland isnt bad either because i live here but its a bit boring sometimes. go to edinburgh and glasgow and maybe a village beside a loch. some good ones are loch lomond and loch ness and loch fyne.

Oh you're a glass half empty kind of person aren't you!

Do you know what, I was thinking about having a glass of Champagne tonight but it costs a lot of money and I'll waste a whole 10 minutes of my life drinking it so I won't bother.

Of course, a bit of jet lag can't stop you, you'll only suffer on the first day!

The culture is so different in the UK to anywhere else in the World, the landscape, especially in Scotland is amazing, like nothing you would have seen before. England and London do come accross as posh and expensive, especially London, but a really good experience. Theres always something to do which doesn't cost any money.

And yes, you will have lots of people say its too expensive but it depends on where you live and what the exchange rate is like. But at the current state, England is expensive but well worth the trip.

Ahhhhhh....... come to England and Scotland you will love it!!!!!!!!!

Very worth it!!!!!!!!!!

See the (my) City - London - but also make sure you see our countryside - the Lake District is a must!

ENJOY!!!

If you really think that seeing England and Scotland will be such a bother, stay home. You can sleep on the plane, and when you get home. Let your family go without you and don't spoil their fun with complaining.

I am not usually negative with my responses, but you sound spoiled. It could be an incredible experience, if you will allow it. England is beyond amazing. And I can't wait to visit Scotland myself.

If you have the money and time, just go. Life's gonna end sometime.

Life tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Go and experience a new culture in London. Just remember when you see 300 pounds on an item,it mean $600 U.S. money. Prices are doubled(at least that's what I experienced when I went.) Have fun.

London is the most amazing city. I can"t wait to go back (this Aug)
I was there in May 06 and the weather was good but I think if you go in March the weather may be your only concern.
Enjoy and bring a Jacket>

London = most expensive city in the world.

carina
I'm sorry but if you ask a question with disrespectful comments in it, then you can expect disrespectful answers ... any trip will involve expense and time for traveling ... you can either not bother and stay home, or you can decide that the journey is part of the vacation and the expense is worth it for the experiences you will have

also as a British person, my perception is that most of the economic difficulties we currently have started in the US and I feel pretty angry at the consequences

Hedge Witch
No dear, don't bother, if you're that keen we really don't want you here anyway.

it depends on what you enjoy....scotland is nice with some beauteful nature reserves etc, and london has lots to offer in term of theatures, restaurants, going out etc...but the weather is usually miserable and grey so unless you are into doing culturual stuff, you will find london very boring with its narrow streets, traffic jams everywhere and cramped housing estates
