Yeah I think it's only English people, at least I've never heard an American, New Zealander or Oz say it. I can't say it's annoying cause I say it, can't help it, it's not because I'm uneducated or any other rubbish, it's because round here say it and you kind of unintentionally pick it up, I don't think saying "Oh yeah it's well good/cool" or whatever sounds annoying anyway. I don't say "innit" though, it's well chavvy.

Calm down innit! You is well stressy!

Do you live in Britain? If not you shouldn't have to worry. But yes you're right I don't think anywhere else in the world uses those words in such a way. TV programs seem to encourage it too like Little Britain, Ali G and Catherine Tate, but that's just a reflection on our society I suppose.

You tend to find the younger people who think they're cool speak like that, it's not cool though it makes them sound stupid! lol :p

It is an affectation that is nothing more than a passing fad. It merely signals a lack of education and sensitivity in any case. No one in their right mind would use either terms at a job interview for example!

When I read your question without the benefit of your additional information... I immediately thought of Sven Goran Erikson who used to start every interview with.. "Weelll!"

It's used a lot in the U.S. also. Agree with 'innit'. It's not even a word

Not sure about this one. I guess it just comes from a region of the UK cuz I never noticed it in London or even up North towards Scotland. Just like how people from the Northwestern part of the US and into British Columbia say ya at the end of all their sentences turning them into questions. It doesn't bother me but it's fun to hear. Then I guess some Australians would say "eh" in place of the "ya". Funny how you can guess where someone is from by the things they say other than just by their accent.

BTW, for the people in the US that hasn't heard it before, you hear in'nt or however the hell you spell it, a lot in the Bay Area. It is definitely a "black" word to use

now its used here there and everywhere. i remember when 'well something' started comeing into fashion everyone would question it, and laugh. Now a days its part of the english language almost (never will be officaly' i think 'init' is the most annoying word ever used on earth. i just cant take someone seriously when they say it. i know British people are the only nation who say 'init' but i think Americans also say 'well'. :)
