Since you will be travelling light, you'll be fine on public transport in London. Just don't let go of your luggage or always keep them in sight.
If you do come across a station where they don't have escalators, the stairs don't seem to be that long, compared to Paris Metro.
I lived in London for a couple of years, travelling in and out of the city using the tube to get to Heathrow. The most luggage I had was a regular sized suitcase and a rucksack. If they were ever too heavy for me to carry up a set of stairs by myself, I would always stop at Earls Court tube station and change over there, as they have elevators to get to the Picadilly Line which takes you to Heathrow.
Good luck. |

Perfectly safe to use the underground (tube) with luggage, but can be awkward if you're carrying too much, we get well crowded down here, but you sound like a light traveller, you'll be fine. There are escalators at all stations, some have lifts too. |

Yes you can take luggage fairly easily on the tube as I managed to last week. They have gates with security to let people through if you have a big bag = instead of going through the turnstiles. Just make sure you do not leave your baggage unattended as this will create an unwanted security alert. And as far as I am aware most tube stations have escalators! Good Luck for your trip! |

you'll be fine, there are extensive escalators and in the places without them it is only a short distance you have to walk. I would advise that if possible you avoid the morning and evening peak periods (7-9:30am and 4-6:30pm) as the trains are crowded |

It's ok, not ideal but much cheaper than a cab.
Take the Heathrow express straight to Paddington and it doesn't stop, so that's easier, but a little more expensive

There isn't escalator access absolutely everywhere, and there will probably be at least some stairs in any station.
The tube map will indicate stations that have disabled access, or limited access. These stations will have lifts and/or escalators. |

You will be fine travelling with luggage on the Underground. I do it all the time when I head off to Heathrow. Just keep an eye on your stuff and look like you know where you are going. |

Its fine, though there is not much space to store your bags on the underground train.
Unless you are going to somewhere very near Paddington, I think it is far better just to take the underground the whole way. Its a long haul from the Heathrow Express to the Underground platforms, and the line that serves Paddington is useless - you will almost certainly have to change. Which is a pain. |

You can take luggage with you on public transport but it is easier if you don't have too much, especially during the rush hour (7-9am and 4-7pm). From Heathrow to Paddington there are three main options. You can take the Heathrow Express, which is quickest but also most expensive. There is Heathrow Connect, which is slower but slightly cheaper. The cheapest option is to take the tube but this will take the longest. Take the Piccadilly line to Earl's Court then change for the District line to Paddington.
Regarding stairs/ escalators etc, the stations at Heathrow all have escalators and lifts. I think Paddington mainline station has step-free exit to the street but the underground station has only stairs.
If taking the tube and changing at Earl's Court, there are lifts and escalators to change between the Piccadilly and District lines.

There is a special train that goes that route exactly. It is called the Heathrow Express. Very fast. Not especially cheap though.
There are other trains that go that route too but stop at stations in between. They are cheaper.
Also the London Transport Undergroung Network leaves from Heathrow. It would mean changing trains to get to Paddington. Try their website for a journey planner to see how long the trip will take. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
Oh, and try to buy an Oyster Card for cheaper travel while you are here. You can see the info in the same website. |

Just take the Heathrow Express
Direct from Heathrow to Paddington taking about 15 mins.
Costs about £14 |

As long as you dont let it out of your sight and cause major problems ... yes.
The quickest way is via Heathrow Express Train Service and apart from a couple of escalators at Heathrow, pulls in on station level at Paddington very close to taxi rank.
If you travel via Underground service, depends where you are ending up, but most deep stations have a good escalator system and a few steps normally dotted around and some still rely on manned lifts. |

I suppose so as long as you hold on to it very tightly! Its been a long time since i was in London to go on the tube but you see travellers with HUGE back packs all the time so i see no problem with what youve mentioned! |
