Snoopdawgggggggggg

Is it time for me to leave the UK?

OKay here goes...

I'm a youngish person, I have a good degree, I think my salary isn't bad for somebody my age, and I have about 10k in the bank.

However - i have the following complaints about this country lol and my situation:

- I can't afford to buy anywhere nice to live in a good area
- I feel sick every month when I see how much tax is deducted from my pay cheque, then look at the services around me such as public transport, NHS, etc ....I mean what am I paying for here??
- I'm sick of sitting in traffic every day to get to work I mean I waste about an hr each way just sitting going nowhere...
- I feel like whichever political party I vote for, I'm always going to get ripped off. Maybe this is simplistic but the way I see it, I vote for conservatives they take my money and give it to the rich, I vote for Labour , they take my money and give it to scumbags (and the rich), I vote Lib Dem, and they don't get in anyway.....it feels like us lower middle classes are slaves to the upper and lower classes.

Is it time for young educated people like me to leave the UK and find a better place? Is there anywhere better that I can go, where all the hard work I have put in so far, in getting a good degree and working hard every day at my job, can be rewarded in that I can afford to actually buy a home in a nice area and benefit from good public transport?
Additional Details
I'd just like to add that I already pay into private health care thru work so that's not an issue.....an I'm not expecting some massively lovely house somewhere...I just want somewhere SAFE to live and can't even afford that here!!

its too expensive to live in the UK
if i was you, i would move out tomorrow.
but personally i think i would miss it too much and at the end of the day the grass is not always greener. But good luck in what ever you do, you can always come back if you want to :)

I wish people would stop moaning about the weather, there is nothing wrong with it.

Anyway to answer your question.....I did travel abroad in my early twenties. And I ended up living in Copenhagen for 5 years, some of the best of my life so far. I feel that its a very good thing to do, you meet new people, experience exciting cultures and different things. I would say, that could be one of the best things you could do, if done right. But a word of caution, don't just assume somewhere is great by all the TV coverage, everywhere has its ups and downs, no matter where you go. But on the whole, with some research and precautions, you could have the time of your life. Have fun, and go explore this wonderous world.

And if you are wondering, I did finally return to England, after living abroad for 10 years. And boy has it changed......

You go for it. Let's face it, Britain isn't that fun. Prices are going up and the weather is sh*t!

Yeah, I just moved here to live with my mom, stepfamily etc. and while I love them all, when I've finished Uni I'm off home to the States.

I'd just go, this country is not a good long-term abode it seems.

the grass is not always greener on the other side

If you want to go, go. You will not be happy otherwise.

I'll just echo a couple of previous comments, the grass is not always greener and when you've been around a bit and got some perspective you come to realise there are a lot of plus points to living in Britain as well as the negatives some people find so easy to list off.

Tin_Drum
Go for it, Britain is in a downward spiral and the politicians don't give a damn as they are all pigs at the trough

The day you need the an ambulance, and get a free service is the day you will realise what you are paying for.

Did you watch "The hospital" on ch4 the other night?

If you are not happy in this country then you could try Australia. It's a great place to live and work, mostly. From the 5 wks I was there, all the shop staff seemed so polite and welcoming even if you didn't buy anything! Or try the USA, but, that is harder to get into.

these complaints you'll find them every where like in the united states maybe.. yeah it like that everywhere well if it isnt a 3rd world country!

Im 14 and i am already saving up for a place abroad and have been for a year now. The united kingdom is becoming worse and worse, and you should strongly consider lleaving the country for a better lifestyle

answerer
yes i suggest you go to the usa, oh wait they don't HAVE a health service. Or maybe another EU. Oh that's right they pay more tax and have a wrse health service than we do too. Hmm, there's alway south america, asia, australia. Oh that's right - you pay medical costs there too. And education is more expensive.

Cuba has a free nhs.

And why do you think you're entitled to the nice house in a nice area? Every other generation WITHOUT EXCEPTION built there way up to that after working for YEARS and saving, going without. You start buiying not so nice and build your way up - that's why it's called a property LADDER not step.

The problem with people is they want everything without working for it. Ridicolous. On second thought YES PLEASE LEAVE. WE DONT WANT YOUR TAXES.
