Is it true that British don't use "Merry Christmas" but just "Seasons Greetings"?

because the muslims didn't like it?
Additional Details
seriously, is the justification because of the muslimes?

"Seasons Greetings" is what you'd expect to see on some stuffy card with holly and mistletoe on it.

"Merry Christmas" is what you'd normally expect to see, or hear people saying.

To answer your question - Yes, but not only muslims.
The Politically Correct Brigade have tried to stop traditional phrases like this in case is 'insults' or 'offends' anyone from a different culture , and they're trying to get everyone to say "happy holiday" instead.

Personally, I don't like the whole christmas thing very much, BUT I do get pissed off at this PC bullshit.

Merry Christmas
( I'm now waiting for the knock at the door - & to be arrested by the PC Secret Police) :-)

some newspaper tried to stir up trouble and suggest it but we are not that stupid to fall for it. dont they say happy holidays in the usa instead of merry xmas ?

Veato
Of course not. Its just a stupid rumour.

Elfii
It's what the silly politically correct people would like us to use! But no, I don't know of anyone who does use 'Season's Greetings'. Well, of course some cards do have it on, but 'Merry Christmas' is much more popular :)

Season's Greetings is more of an American thing, hasn't really caught on here in the UK. If you were to use it here, you would get a funny look from most people.

Happy Christmas is the preferred option, although Merry Christmas is just fine too.

No . . .

I say Happy/Merry Christmas and always assumed "seasons greetings" was an American thing. :/

SLF
I've never heard such nonsense. You really don't want to believe this kind of racist rubbish. We say Merry Christmas and the muslims don't mind - honestly! Ask one!

John B
Some do but not to be taken too seriously.

We use both Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings. I couldnt give a f**k what muslims think and to be honest I dont think they care what we call it.

Kristina S
I thought they said Happy Christmas. Or that's what I've heard whenever I watched Harry Potter. But maybe I shouldn't base my answers off of fictional movies lol. Oh and screw muslims. Nobody likes them anyway. : p
